After getting out of prison, Kai Mori is a completely different person to the guy banks met on devils night 6 years ago. But so is she.

Running into her all these years later, stirs some unforgettable and unwanted chemistry between them. When banks’ dad basically bargains her away to Kai, she becomes his assistant until he is to marry her cousin. But Kai has other plans and turns out, he’s not the only one hiding secrets.

I loved Kai in this. He’s so closed of but sweet. The way you see who they were and there relationship 6 years ago and then in present time was amazing because you see how they develop and how the events in there lives changed them.

“Not that I’d want the freedom to indulge in anything at any time anyway. Things were more special when they were rare.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 for story ????????????/5 for spice.

This wasn’t as spicy as some of Penelope Douglas’ books. But I absolutely loved Kai and Banks. These two characters made such a cute couple, I couldn’t help but root for them from beginning to end. Banks, IMO, is the strong, independent female lead that I have always wanted. She wasn’t a delicate flower that somehow “found her strength” but still has to be protected by every guy. No. Douglas gave us a scrappy little nobody that thrived in her self sufficiency, and had to work through her own traumas on her own. Then we have the fierce but absolutely loving Kai who is the man you want Banks to end up with.

I found this story engaging and enjoyable. The witty banter was fun and it was a the author provided a satisfying and realistic ending. Which, IMO, is a pleasant surprise for most of her books.

And damnit if Douglas don’t have me hooked on this damn series. I am absolutely ‘pot committed.’

Obsessed with the whole devil night series, very much enjoyed hideaway and really can’t wait to finish the series, corrupt had me hooked straight away and I just know it’s going to be one of my favourite series. Love the character development, with Kai so very much looking forward to more character development with the rest of the characters.

There is so much mystery throughout Hideaway that I was constantly second-guessing myself. I thought I knew the answer, changed my mind and then knew I should have stuck with my original guess. Sometimes the too obvious guess is just the right one and this was the case so many times. Penelope Douglas wrote the story so well that she managed to throw me off course multiple times.

Kai intrigued me from the beginning in Corrupt. Hideaway made Kai stand out from the other Horsemen, whereas in Corrupt I felt as if he was stuck in Michael’s shadow, trying to figure out his new place but still trying to take on the leader role. Kai is a leader in his own right and in a completely different way to Michael, thanks to his father’s culture. I loved Kai’s parent’s backstory and how he actually didn’t need these horribly, vicious parents like Michael and Damon to be in the situation that he was thrown into. Kai has a much softer side to him compared to the other Horsemen and the sarcastic sense of humour started to reveal itself more and more throughout the book when things started falling into line. It all started to happen when he knew he was getting his claw into Nik.

Nik’s situation tore at my heartstrings but sometimes I just wanted to whack her head against a wall. The way she has been brought up is twisted and definitely falls in line with Gabriel’s lifestyle. Nik has been manipulated her whole teenage/adult life and never had anyone tell her it’s wrong until Kai manages to uncover all the hidden secrets. Being in Nik’s head does give an insight into Damon and his personality, along with alllllll his twisted issues. To some extent, I start to feel sorry for him but he’ll have to pull out all the stops in Kill Switch to make me change my mind because at the moment I probably despise him.

Sow looking forward to a rollercoaster of a ride in book 3.

I LOVED this one! I flew through this so fast. I was obsessed from the start.

Kai and Banks are my favourite couple so far. I know I’m only 2 books in but I don’t see anyone topping them.

I was a little skeptical during the first book, but this book 100% got me into this series.

I’m onto kill switch now, which is Damon’s book which is the one I’ve been worried about. We will see if opinions change!

this is book 2 in the devils night series, I read corrupt a while ago and adored it and I didn’t wanna move on to hideaway at that point because I didn’t want to finish the series I know I’m gonna be obsessed.

I loved Kai and Banks so much. I had so many questions and was like omg no way through half the book.

I feel like kai is the nice guy out the the four horsemen at the moment, I like him a lot especially after the sauna scene in corrupt I mean DAMN.

I love how Kai no doubt has loved Banks forever. I felt heartbroken for the life Banks had I can understand why the person done what he done to her she was all he had. I loved watching Kai and Banks get together, shes a badass just like my girl Rika and I can’t wait to read more about them.

The four horsemen have my heart and a think they ALWAYS will. Damon and Will are my faves atm and I am so stocked to be diving into kill switch now.

Moral of the story is Kai Mori is a hottie and I love him.

Banks is a baddy and I love her.

I love every single character Penelope writes I swear she’s never written a bad one for me.
