This cookbook is very useful, whether you just want to cut back on meat, you’re a new vegetarian or you’ve been vegetarian for a while.
It has 120 recipes, split as follows:
– Everyday veg
– Fast veg
– Veg feasts
– Veg on the side
– Veg on the go
– Sweet treats
– Pastry dressings and useful stuff
The recipes are easy to follow and have a good layout. Every recipe also has an apetitising photograph of the finished meal, which really helps when choosing what to eat. Also, the cover is the book is gorgeous and it looks great on my bookshelf!
I have made about 15 recipes so far from this book and have been impressed every time. I have served them to meat-eaters who also really enjoyed them.
Some of the recipes use some exotic ingredients which I have struggled to find in normal supermarkets. I have either left these out or substituted with something else, and haven’t had a problem.
Just a note that some of the recipes require parmesan cheese, however parmesan cheese is not vegetarian due to animal rennet. Most supermarkets offer an alternative hard cheese which is vegetarian and tastes very similar.

As a new vegetarian I have struggled to find dishes with real flavour that I can cook for my meat eating husband to enjoy too. This book has been brilliant – so far I have cooked about half a dozen recipes and all have been so tasty. Would thoroughly recommend.

So glad to have found this cookbook. I have an 11 year old son who is Vegetarian, and so I wanted to find a veggie cookbook with not just veg, but protein! And this books has some great, family dinner recipes that will appeal to all, including meat-eaters! Our family loves: Veg-Packed Bolognese (black or green lentils for protein in this one); Sweet Potato Crusted Cottage Pie (cannellini beans and red lentils in this one); One-Pan Pearl Barley & Herb “Risotto”; and Black Bean Chilli with dirty rice. All the recipes are easy and have great flavours. Highly recommend!!

Exceptional, easy to follow recipes that will bring new meaning to tastebuds, an array of culinary delights with delicious zesty flavours and hearty textures. Something for the whole family.
Each page is styled to perfection with it’s bright colours and beautiful photography which takes the reader on a wonderful tasty adventure.
Weaved through it’s pages one can hear the cheerful and heartfelt tones of Camilla Stephens and feel her passion for these recipes to not only bring a selection of the earth’s finest delights to the kitchen, but also to gather people of all ages around the table together for food that looks inviting, tastes divine and draws out fun and inspiring conversations.
Camilla’s well crafted recommendations of how and what to serve it up with are super helpful and spot on for those who need a little extra inspiration.
We are not a veggie family but will happily eat everything in this book- there is something to suit everyone, Higgidy have really thought of everything!
Our kids loved the veg-packed bolognese (absolutely delicious!) and the squash Mac and cheese pie. As for the Halloumi fritters, well…they only leave you wishing you’d cooked a double batch, gone in seconds! Wow what a show stopper! I can’t wait to have a dinner party and serve up the Thai green curry with toasted cashews and the amazing selection of sweet treats!
This is SO good, I might turn veggie!

Excellent cookbook. Not one recipe that I would not be willing to try. Would make a great gift for Vegetarians friends too. I recommend.
Back again. Second copy I have purchased of this book – it makes the best gift for those who like to cook and bake for themselves. I will certainly get more copies for birthdays, etc. So nicely presented.

I like Higgidy products and have made several of the recipes, which are nicely illustrated. I wish they had added a note of estimated time to make – and said whether ok to freeze, or how long would keep for. Many of the recipes (my fault???!) were quite tricky IMO, so prob best not to plunge in enthusiastically before you’ve fully read recipe … 😉

Saw this book at a friend’s house and really like the recipes (and design and layout). So ordered straight away. As did a friend who was also there for the weekend. Looking forward to trying out all the recipes.
