“the bees aren’t going to go away
but they are going to change with you
sometimes they will be chaotic
sometimes they will rest
sometimes they will give you sweet honey
and sometimes they will remind you
of how much love can sting
but if you can find a home within yourself
and make peace with your bees
you will be alright”
–from Home
Resonant, raw, and vibrant, Home is a lyrical map to navigating heartbreak. Tracing the stages of healing – from the despair that comes with the end of a relationship to the eventual light and liberation that comes with time – the poems in Home provide comfort and solace, while revitalizing your soul – and helping you make peace with your bees.

Great book
by Bleach4brains
As someone who discovered Whitney Hanson through her captivating poems on TikTok, I was excited to delve into her book, “Home.” However, I must admit that my experience with this collection of poems left me quite disappointed.
Firstly, I found the overall content of the book to be underwhelming. While I had high expectations based on the emotional depth and thought-provoking nature of Hanson’s TikTok poems, some of the ones included in “Home” seemed to lack the same impact.
Furthermore, I found the organization of the book to be a bit confusing. The poems didn’t flow seamlessly, and there seemed to be a lack of thematic cohesion. This made it difficult to engage with the collection as a whole and left me feeling disconnected from the intended journey or message.
In terms of the writing style, I noticed that the quality varied throughout the book. While some poems had glimpses of Hanson’s talent for crafting vivid imagery and evoking emotions, others felt rushed or lacked depth. It felt as though some pieces were included simply to fill the pages rather than to add substance to the collection.
Despite my disappointment, I must acknowledge that poetry is a subjective form of art, and others may resonate with Hanson’s work in ways that I did not. It’s possible that my expectations were too high based on her TikTok presence.
In conclusion, “Home” by Whitney Hanson fell short of my expectations. The poems lacked the depth, originality, and thematic cohesion that I had hoped for. While there were occasional glimpses of Hanson’s talent, overall, I found the collection to be underwhelming. Perhaps her work is better suited to shorter formats like TikTok, where the constraints may bring out the best of her poetic abilities.

If I had read Whitney’s words without seeing her face, I’d have sworn she was a person that had lived decades and experienced life to the fullest, because she speaks with such wisdom and intelligence, she is wise beyond her years. She is such a phenomenal writer and she portrays the truths of life so beautifully, she’s quickly become one of my absolute favourite poets. This book, like her, is incredible.

I have never read a book that has made me think so much of where home really is. Home is not a place, thing or person home is me.
