Most people think I save dogs, but really they saved me.
Niall Harbison is a dog hero based in Thailand. He spends his days feeding, caring for and rescuing the many street dogs he comes across. With every rescue there’s a story. Like the sweet gentle McMuffin who was found with many tumours and hours from death, only to be nursed back to health. She now lives with Niall and is a popular member of the pack. Then there is King Whacker – who escaped a vicious attack and is now ruling the nest living up to his name as the king of the all good dogs. And who could resist the puppy eyes of little Rodney, the beautiful dog with big paws who is melting millions of hearts around the world.
Originally from Dublin, Niall was the owner of a successful advertising company. After selling it, he moved to Thailand where his addictions – drugs and alcohol – almost got the better of him. One day he woke up in hospital, close to death, and realised that something had to change. And that was what spurred him on to start saving and helping street dogs. His aim is to help 10,000 street dogs.
This is his story.
Niall Harbison’s book ‘Hope – How Street Dogs Taught Me the Meaning of Life’ was a No.2 Sunday Times bestseller w/c 28-08-2023.

I don’t need to go into too much detail about the content of the story other than to say it’s an inspiring story of how dogs can change a person’s life and save someone from the brink. It’s amazing and heart-warming to read. If you need a little bit of cheer in an often dreary bleak world this is the story to read!

This was a brilliant read, a story about how one man’s struggle with addiction led to a light bulb moment where he decided he needed to change his life, and resulted in him throwing all his energy into helping the street dogs of Thailand. This has now turned into a movement, where so many people all over the world are behind him and what he is doing. Every penny of profit from this book is going to fund Tina’s hospital for dogs who aren’t doing so good, so buying this book is not only going to guarantee a great read, but you’ll be supporting the building of a brand new facility which will help so many sick, injured and abused dogs in Thailand. Niall’s story is told with honesty and humour, I couldn’t put it down. We find out about his childhood, his early life and what led him to Thailand in the first place, how he started noticing the street dog problem there and how he came to start doing something about it. We read behind the scenes stories about his life in the Thai jungle now, the back stories of how the dogs came to him, and how he imagines the future of the mission to pan out. What an amazing human being he is, you can’t help but be in awe of what he has accomplished so far and what he’s hoping to achieve in the future. Whether you are a dog lover or not, I would highly recommend this book for its inspirational content and important message that Hope really does exist in any circumstances. It would also make a fantastic gift.

A wonderful and personal look at the life and tribulations of Niall, and how his passion and love for the less fortunate of our four legged friends has led to his new lease of life and helped him manage the demons or addiction and depression. Beautifully uplifting story of the brilliant work Niall and the team are carrying out with the street dogs of Thailand. Lovely gift for any rescue dog lover and also supporting the amazing work they carry out everyday ????

Loved it from the beginning ❤️ An absolutely heartwarming read about an inspirational man who has battled through his addictions to help the street dogs of Thailand. I have followed Niall on Twitter for a long time and feel as though I have got to know some of the rescue dogs through his daily posts – but this book gives a deeper insight into what goes on behind the scenes and the great work that Niall does ???? It’s a must read for animal lovers and one that I would definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
