This book is an absolute life saver – anyone struggling with OCD must read it, it will turn your life around. It is the best written resource I have read in the 17 years I have suffered from this debilitating condition. I could wax lyrical about all the helpful things contained in it, but one of the most helpful things I found is how the author summarises the most common ways of how OCD manifests itself, and then she very clearly goes about explaining how you can challenge OCD to regain control and enjoyment from your life. I just wish I’d read this 17 years ago!

Having read the majority of self-help books on how to overcome OCD, this book ranks with the very best. Having struggled with a particular aspect of OCD intermittently for some time, this book really did help me identify why the problem persists and the steps I need to take in order to chase the bully out of my life. The specific case studies make the book ideal for anyone struggling with OCD or relatives of those suffering from the condition. There is something for everyone to relate to irrespective of the form of OCD. There is even some practical advice on how to relay to loved ones the difficulties you are experiencing when the flavour of the OCD is somewhat difficult to talk about (e.g harm/sexual). What’s clear is that the author has a wealth of experience when it comes to dealing with OCD and provides a structure for the reader which will enable them to live the life they want to. The overriding message is that OCD is an anxiety problem. This book provides a clear step by step guide on how to seek out that anxiety so that it no longer rules your life. I would highly recommend this read for those at any stage in recovery.

This is a great book about tackling OCD. Elizabeth Forrester wants to help you chase the OCD bully right out of your life. She is compassionate about the suffering OCD causes, but pulls no punches in tackling it head-on. I would recommend this book to anyone who suffers from OCD or who knows anyone who does.

Many of the pages don’t match up with the previous one making it difficult to follow and understand. If the pages matched it would be easy to read. I did not read all of it.

A very helpful book, easy to read, written in a clear, accessible and sympathetic style that treats the difficulties in a matter of fact way, without medicalising and offers practical advice on how to deal with these troubling thoughts and behaviours.
