I returned this book as I thought it overpriced and bought Mastering Manga by Mark Crilley for around the same price.
If this How To Draw Anime had been half the price I may have kept it, particularly as almost half the book (last third) is blank pages to practice on.
That just felt like an attempt to pad the book out. If I need a sketch pad I will buy one.
The font is also very large, much larger than it needs to be, larger than most kids reading books in fact. Again this felt like an attempt to pad the book out.
Then there are pages of the same repetitive heads kids are to complete.
If you were to strip out the blank pages, repetitive exercise sheets and print it in a normal sized font the actual content would make a handy little pocket guide worth maybe £5.
If your after more actual content with more than just heads / faces covered Mastering Manga is a better buy imo.

I bought this as a gift for someone who loves drawing and particularly anime so thought it would be ideal…but I was a little underwhelmed. It doesn’t appear to have much substance to it. I hadn’t really noticed that it only focuses on faces, my error admittedly but I do think it is overpriced for what it is. The writing is very large and the book feels like a cheap colouring book. Not such a great purchase.
