I’ve been playing Chess for about 70 years on and off and even in the first 3 or 4 chapters I’m finding things I didn’t know. I’m going to enjoy reading the rest of it.
I do however have some minor reservations.
In the diagrams the contrast between the white pieces and the light squares and even more so between the black pieces and the dark squares could be better for my tired old eyes.
There is a tiny error on page 28 discussing the Golden Moves “Our king is safe , every one of our pieces is defended by another piece … ” neither the pawn on b2 nor the bishop on c4 appears to be defended. This is not important in the context, but might confuse the sharp eyed beginner.
The QR codes are fine, but fiddling with diagrams on a small smart phone screen with arthritic fingers is not my idea of fun. Could we please have links that would work in a PC browser as well?

Absolutely amazing book you could not have done a better job. I’ve only been playing chess since May 2023 and I’ve been playing and studying every day since. I’ve discovered your videos and was very excited when I saw you was releasing a book and I bought 2 for myself and my partner. Thank you very much for taking your time to make chess a fun and easy learn able game for everybody. Good job levy. ????

I thought this book would be good because Levy explains and breaks down the game so well in his videos, but I also wondered how I would get on with the book as previous chess books have lost me with all the moves constantly being described with the column letters and square numbers, you have to be rain man to keep up, but this book is different. It has small well-written paragraphs with step-by-step images plus it has QR codes that take you to a site that allows you to practice what you have just been taught over and over again. It’s fantastic! Please don’t buy it, I want to beat you all.

The book is entertaining to read with easy-to-follow explanations. The online material is a huge plus and I’ll keep going back to it, long after I’ve finished the book.
Really feels like a bargain price considering the effort that has obviously gone into it.

Excellent book. Very weak thought out and put together. Levy is an excellent teacher and this comes across in the style of this book. Well worth picking up or as a gift for a chess friend.

I bought the book as a gift and now I have to buy it again because I don’t want to part with it. Ever.
Top tip for using the QR codes in the book, (use them, a fantastic part of the book) use your ipad, or send the link to your desktop computer.
Suggestion for second edition: please can we have colours that are friendly to colour-blind chess players, and a tad lighter dark squares in the illustrations to give better contrast?

I mainly bought this book to support the author Levi, the guy is a fantastic content creator l. I’m not the best at chess and I don’t play often, I prefer to play OTB than online. I have found this book to be instantly beneficial and interesting. Id recommend it to anyone! The QR codes are a fantastic idea as well.
