Graham Humphreys’ career as a poster artist looms large over horror cinema. From designing the iconic Evil Dead poster to Nightmare on Elm Street and House of a Thousand Corpses, his work is familiar to everyone. It’s easy to see why his work grabs the attention of horror fans and filmmakers alike as he continually and systematically sets the bar ever higher in his quest for sheer terror and pure entertainment. With over forty years’ experience he is one of the few contemporary illustrators using the traditional medium of gouache to paint his images. Includes previously unseen work: paintings, drawings and colour studies.

Like all great artists, Graham Humphreys has a highly distinctive and recognisable style, one that will be familiar to anyone who has seen his beautiful posters for A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Evil Dead, and many other classic horror films. Hung, Drawn and Executed collects some of his most impressive artwork in one delicious volume and is quite simply another must-buy. Get it now!

Wonderful book, truly one of a kind! If you’ve been a fan of Horror films, you’ll have seen his awesome cover art, posters etc. from the 80’s onwards, Evil Dead, Santa Sangre, A Nightmare on Elm Street….
what makes this book for me, is a breakdown of his workflow at the start of the book, as a designer, I’m always interested in how other creatives work.
Sometimes the posters for a film are the best part, Graham has always produced the most tantalising art, with a use of colour that makes his art pop.

A great book with a massive glaring omission…. The author/artist refers several times to the original EVIL DEAD vhs/movie poster he designed but it’s nothing this book. In fact NONE of his vhs era art is here, only beginning with the dvd era. A missed opportunity or maybe a sequel book to follow? I hope so.
Otherwise this book is great, but missing vital art sucks.
