Hunting Adeline (Cat and Mouse Duet)
£15.00
The Diamond
Death walks alongside me,
But the reaper is no match for me.
I’m trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren’t as they seem.
They won’t keep me forever.
I no longer recognize the person I’ve become,
And I’m fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night.
They call me a diamond,
But they’ve only created an angel of death.
The Hunter
I was born a predator,
With ruthlessness ingrained in my bones.
When what’s mine is stolen from me in the night,
Like a diamond hidden within a fortress,
I find that I can no longer contain the beast.
Blood will paint the ground as I tear apart this world to find her.
And bring her back to where she belongs.
No one will escape my wrath,
Especially not those who have betrayed me.
Warning: This is the second and final installment to the Duet. You must read Haunting Adeline first.

What an emotional roller coaster, it got deep and dark fast in this book. It took a while for it to get to a happy place but sibbys reappearance helped lighten the mood. If I haven’t said it before.. I love sibby and she deserves all the happiness in the world.
For those who want to know when Zade finds Addie it page 234 so it’s a good chunk of the book but there is a warning next to the trigger warning.
I that’s what I think makes this book even darker is H.D Carlton even says in the authors note that the devastating thing is if this was real life Addie probably wouldn’t have made it out.
So much happened in the first 30% I felt like I was half way through book. It was intense and fast paced. Addie is a strong survivor and honestly I was so proud of her for still fighting. Phoebe and Bethany broke my heart especially Phoebe the end scene with her and Addie ???? I could feel tears burning the back of my eyes. I saw a little bit of the page on TikTok but for some reason I thought it was Zade on a mission gone wrong, so that was a shock. The other girls also went through hell and that was heartbreaking to read.
Zade is so patient with Addie throughout this and he understands everything needs to change between them. That he went about getting Addie the wrong way. Does he regret it yes on some level but not enough that he would change anything about them in that sense. But he knows he needs to take a step back especially in the bedroom. As soon as Addie is back he makes it his mission to show her she is in control and that she has all the power in their relationship. She could ask for anything and he would give it to her with out question.
Zade really knew when to push Addie and when he needed to take a step back. This broke something in him too and that was heartbreaking to see. I’m glad to see after all this they finally get their happy ending, they know things are broke and will never be the same but their love will be.
The cliff hanger at the end with Sibby… I need her next book like today ????
Honestly read the trigger warning and take them serious especially if you don’t normally read dark romance… as H.D Carlton says your mental health matters. Be safe guys ????

I had a rollercoaster of emotions reading this book series, I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with characters and I felt angry. One of the best reads this year. Definitely recommend reading this book set, I need to know what happened to Sibby though.

now i have an unrealistic book boyfriend ????
I love how Zade was captured as the villain ,but he drive to stop human trafficking and ending innocent peoples torture is what makes me love him. He’s not the typical “bad guy” character ,he’s low key got good intentions.
Also I love how much Addie and Zade burn for each other. I’ve read a few books this year this Haunting/Hunting Adeline has been the best read all year. This was my first “dark romance” book ,I was quite unsure how I felt about reading dark romance ,but I ending up really enjoying it.
This book put me through the motions ,absolutely Heart Breaking but also Satisfying from Revenge and also happiness that Addie finds her alter ego.
Sibby really grew on my in this second book ,she actually made the book funny and quite entertaining at times.
The book calls Zade a God. But the author H.D Carlton is a God for making this book. So thank you.

This series is the first dark romance I’ve divulged in and I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint giving me a new meaning to my reading. I just wish my sister was still here to share these moments with me as she was the one that got me into reading and she would have loved these but for now I’ll read for the both of us

This second instalment in the cat and mouse duology is absolutely insane.
I honestly can not sort through my thoughts and feelings properly.
I loved reading the rest of Adeline and Zades story and just seeing how much they truly love each other, the extent that they will go to for each other had me feeling a bit gooey inside at time.
The way the booked continued on so perfectly in line with the first was brilliant. I really enjoyed how the theme of the whole book was still very gothic and dark. Although I will say be prepared to be taken on a huge emotional rollercoaster!
I have to start off by saying that this book is disturbing. It is so much darker, and intense then the first book.
It is a very complex read which delves into really heavy traumatic topics that can be huge triggers for individuals. I actually found some parts quite hard to read as they were so raw, dark and brutal, I felt my heart breaking multiple times and I actually teared up.
Although just like the first book I wanted more and I needed to know about Adeline and Zades relationship!
“???????????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ????????????, ???????????????????????? ????????????????????. ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????’???????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????, ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ????????????????, ???? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????? ???????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????? ????????. ???????????? ????????????????, ???? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????? ????????????????????????????.”
Ive got to say I fell in love with Adeline and Zade even more throughout this book.
Adeline truly goes through the most horrific, traumatic experiences any woman could go through but no matter what she never breaks fully and is determined to overcome what has happened to her. All of these absolutely horrific experiences were very key components, as you genuinely see her character grow even more and it’s amazingly gut wrenching and heartwarming all at the same time. I loved her character even more due to this, she turns into a bad ass woman that is so inspiring. I found the flash backs and coping mechanisms Adeline used post her experiences to come of as really realistic. Having realistic prospect ultimately allows the readers to be taken on the journey with Adeline and to connect to her and genuinely feel every emotion she feels.
Now Zade… what can I say. I loved him so much in the first book and that has not changed at all. Zade remains the same haunting, dangerous figure that he did in the first book, and he will stop at nothing and I mean nothing to get Adeline back and to hurt the ones who hurt her. However, it seems that during this book we see another side to him. I feel like there were a lot more tender moments with him and at points we glimpsed this softer wiser side to him. Which provided a deeper insight to him and I’ve got to say I love this side to him just as much! However he does go back to the dark brooding shadow we have all come to love so much! And let me just say WOW, THANK GOD!!
The side characters that were brought into this book just added so much reality and depth to the book. They are all key components and all played such a big role in shaping Adeline into who she becomes which is so realistic. As we all know the experiences we go through or people we meet in our lives, either fleetingly or permanently, shape us to the people we become.
I’m actually quite sad that I won’t get to experience Adeline and Zade for the first time again, as I did enjoy reading their story. I don’t think I would reread this anytime soon only because it’s so dark and takes you on such an emotional rollercoaster.
I still would highly recommend reading this duology. However this will definitely test your limits so I would STRONGLY suggest reading the trigger warnings at the start of each book before delving into Adeline and Zades world.
