I’m afraid this is a very short review, even for me, because the story doesn’t really stand out. While the heat and steam levels are nice, there’s nothing else that really gets the pulse going.
Ryder Voss is the college football quarterback. He’s one of the guys. They like to have fun, placing bets to push each other, and don’t give a damn about the consequences.
Penelope Graham is the smart girl, wannabe romance writer, and lover of sparkly vampires. She knows the score when it comes for football players. Her father was one, and abandoned her and her mother as soon as his career beckoned. So she’s reluctant to be drawn in by Ryder’s charm, but accepts his help to win over the guy she does want.
This book was much more enjoyable than the first one and I think it’s because there’s a greater humour element. I won’t go into too much detail, but the pool table sene is hilarious.
However, the story brings nothing new to college football romance. The plot covers the expected and the characters are pretty cookie cutter. If you’re looking for something easy to read that ticks all the usual boxes then go for it. If you’re looking for something different and intense then look elsewhere.

After being disappointed with IMM latest, I mentioned re-reading this one in my review. I still love it!
It’s plot is fairly standard – jock and nerd- but it does it really well.
The chemistry between the two comes across so well, even from the first scene with the sauce. You can feel the pull leap from the pages.
I liked Rykers character in I Dare You, so I was happy his was the next book. He’s a well written, well rounded MLC. Sometimes, the jocks are made to be really arrogant and sl*ts,and certainly hard to like initially, but he isn’t. It’s clear he’s good at his sport and he knows that but he’s really likeable. You know immediately that he’s interested in Penelope and the warmth and heart he has are evident really early in the book. I like the fact he is sometimes unsure how to deal with his feelings, and makes things harder for himself. It means that when he does or says something wrong, there’s humour there too as he tries to fix it. He’s not cynical about women and the fact he’s was a bit of a playboy in book 1, it’s changed in this and you know that whoever he was with, he would be all in. When he agrees to help her, the author managed to make his frustration at her indecision jump of the page. He’s also protective of her and his friends – again shown in book 1. I love the way he waits for her to realise her feelings without interfering too much. He wants her to know for sure.
In sports romance books, he’s one of the best jocks. I also agree with his views on Twilight!
As for Penelope, she too is well written. She’s intelligent and a bit of a nerd (she described herself as this) but it doesn’t take over. Like Ryker, the author writes her in such a way that you feel you know her from a few pages in. She is a warm, strong and a caring FLC and she isnt a walkover either. Even though she thinks she likes someone else, it clear that isn’t the case and therefore her interactions with him are quite fun – see first meeting and pool game! She also stands up for herself and is determined in what she wants to do and ignores those who look down on it. From a brit POV, the Greek system is a bit of mystery in terms of what they get up to and sometimes authors go too far in to that and it gets tiring, particularly the bad side of it. This manages to avoid it, even with the teams bet situation.
You get hints at the next book and those characters are well done too. Blaze is a great addition as he also goes against the stereotypical jock I think. There’s no bullying or mean girl included either. The fight between Archer and Ryker is a welcome one though….
What I love about this book is that it isn’t over written. Its the right length and there’s no pointless padding. The few extra storylines (her dad, his past) don’t take up pages unnecessarily. Its paced really well and you can lose time reading it.
You don’t really need to read book 1 first but I think this is the better one so you could start with it.
Happy Reading.

I have had this on my Kindle since release day and have finally managed to read it, yay. It was funny, sweet and sexy too with vampire Bill supplying lots of light relief. Honestly I adored everything about this story.
Penelope is a quirky character that I could just not love from the minute you meet her, she is working part time in a diner and trying to rebuild a relationship with her father after losing her mother suddenly. Sharing her house with her best friend Charisma and her African grey parrot Vampire Bill her life is full. Although she never knows how to act around guys especially one like Ryker Voss, the star Quarterback the one that girls flock to. He starts to show interest in her and as much as she doesn’t want to admit she enjoys his attention and before long she finds herself falling for the man and not the persona that everyone else gets. Could he really want to be with her or does he have ulterior motives?
Ryker Voss is used to attention from girls but Penelope doesn’t care who he is or have stars in her eyes when she looks at him and that for once is refreshing with all the pressure surrounding the team at the moment and scandals from the previous season still rocking the foundation of the team the last thing he was expecting was to feel anything for the quirky Penelope. Things become complicated when his team mates decide to make her a bet. Can he show her how he really feels or will the stakes be too high?
The chemistry and the banter within this couple was great both are the opposite of what they would usually go for and the secondary characters also are fun to read about. Highly enjoyable read and can’t wait for more in this series. Solid five stars and loved the epilogue.

Nice easy sports romance. Penelope doesnt realise that Ryker the star quarterback notices her. She doesnt like or want to know any sportsmen after her sportsman father walked out on her mother and so Ryker has a hard time getting her to speak to him. However, she does notice he is handsome. He never seems to be without the hoard of college girls chasing him and he has a playboy reputation. Their conversations are funny at times and he has no idea how to date as he hasnt had that type of relationship before but he wants her.
