It feels like this book has been printed on recycled paper. I couldn’t find that stated anywhere in the book, but it definitely lacks the gloss I expect from DK publications. Both the print and paper are grey so it’s a bit tricky for my elderly eyes to read in poor light. I expect DK feel the ‘recycled’ look will appeal to people looking to grow their own vegetables.

Complaints against print aside, the book is full of good, general growing tips as well as tips on growing more esoteric plants. I’ve used fenugreek as a green compost for a while, but I didn’t know you could grow passion fruit in this country. This is a good book for those new to gardening and for extending the horizons of already competent gardeners.

I picked up this book to see what odd and unusual things we could grow in our garden. We grow the usual beans, radishes, tomatoes, and even asparagus (with not much success as yet). So it wanted to see if there was anything else we could try that we couldn’t get in the supermarket, and this book surely delivered! I’ve even picked up some of the seeds for things mentioned in here to start growing this year that i otherwise wouldn’t have bothere with, but now that i have all the detailed information i need to grow them i’m a little more confident. Overall this is a fun and interesting book for both growers and cookers of weird and wonderful fruits and veggies, i recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book – a great way to explore alternative options for edible (and tasty!) things to grow in your garden. Perfect for gardening enthusiasts of all experience levels!

This is a big colourful book, though I’m not really sure it’s going to be of that much use to me. It is my own fault, I should have read a little more before ordering it. It’s very much designed with twentysomethings in mind. We have a big enough garden, but most of the “edibles” are quite obscure to find and seem difficult to grow. I was expecting something that I could read before heading to the garden centre for inspiration, a general guide with commonly used edidble crops. Most of these are very exotic. I doubt I’ll find many HoneyBerry or Strawberry Popcorn seeds locally.

Saying that, it is a pretty book (as one would expect from this publisher). If you don’t mind buying things over the internet and have plenty of space and time to experiment, then it may give you some interesting and refreshing new ideas.

If you are going to go to the effort of growing your own fruit and vegetables then why not try something a bit different. To me this is an inspirational book and I’ll give some a shot next year. I think that the seeds should be fairly easy to obtain online. Next stop cucamelons!

As a relative newbie to the world of growing veg, I’ve mainly been sticking to the classics – carrots, spring onions, spinach, leeks, strawberries etc.. The most exotic plant I’ve had success with so far has been lemongrass (and I’ve loved growing it, as it looks impressive and tastes great), but I’ve been looking to broaden my horizon.

Enter the Incredible Edibles book. Now I have a huge range of exciting veg to try. The book includes good pictures, helpful instructions and interesting information. The only thing lacking is the seeds I now need. I imagine a bit of ebay trawling will be happening soon…

Overall, I’m happy with this book. It isn’t exhaustive, by any means, but is a fun addition to the bookshelf and a helpful advisor to the new gardener.

A very interesting colourful book, very well illustrated. Giving tips on how to grow different types of vegetables, quite a few I’ve never heard of, but look quite easy to grow so going to give them a go, includes Wasabi, which is really well know, never knew how to grow but gives you all the info from seeds to plants, Really good book lots I’d like to try as they look quite inviting in the book.

This is a really interesting book, hardback, well written and plenty of easy explanations for a novice to understand, and very colourful with pictures of how your plants should look stage by stage. Really different book.
