FANS OF INDIA KNIGHT’S EXPERT BEAUTY ADVICE WILL NOT STOP THANKING YOU FOR THIS GIFT!

‘India Knight is a LEGEND in the beauty industry. I am OBSESSED with her column because you can trust her to get it right every single time!’ Charlotte Tilbury

With beauty, as with so much else, knowledge is power.
Here’s all of mine.

  • Why has my favourite eyeliner stopped looking flattering?
  • What can I do about the skin on my neck?
  • Am I too old for contour? What is contour?

Every week, tens of thousands of women turn to India Knight’s beauty column in the Sunday Times Style Magazine, to be directed to beauty products that really work by someone they can trust – and who understands how much this stuff matters.

It matters because looking, and therefore feeling, like yourself at every stage of life is fundamental.

In this brilliant, essential, reassuring book, India has distilled her beauty wisdom into practical advice for every part of the face and beyond: from tips for thinning lips and thinning hair, to the best skincare for older faces, to the make-up products that really make a difference, to demystifying the scientific jargon beloved by the beauty industry.

If you would rather not use 35 products on your face every morning or watch how-to videos on TikTok, or if you have ever looked in the mirror and found yourself thinking ‘Who is that?’, then India Knight’s Beauty Edit is the book you’ve been waiting for.

It is a glorious and indispensable celebration of how to be old(er) with minimum fuss and a generous helping of grace, confidence and style.

‘Women shouldn’t aim to look younger, they should aim to look better, and India Knight totally gets that. Her beauty advice is solid gold’ Bobbi Brown

‘I love India’s beauty advice’ Victoria Beckham

Good information and sound advice on anti ageing product information. When I opened the book cover there were holes on both pages. Like large puncture marks. I’m glad the book was for me and not a Christmas present. I couldn’t be bother to return the item.

Thank goodness for this book. I go into shops and look around with wide eyes having no idea what to get. This book will be coming with me henceforth!

What works when you’re older?……..turns out its botox and filler (pages 94-96)………but we knew that anyway didn’t we? India Knight shamelessly name drops the practitioner who performed miracles on her face; was this work done for free or has she secured heavily discounted follow-ups? The rest of this ‘book’ is merely a collection of lists containing mostly expensive products. If you can spare £140 to throw around on a tiny 30ml of vitamin c serum maybe follow her example and go for injectables too as it’s those that will provide the noticeable results. She makes reference to thetweakmentguide.com and I would suggest this instead as an excellent resource if that’s the way you want to go. For those who don’t want/can’t afford to then have a look at the book Destination Fabulous by Anna Murphy another Times journalist, she writes beautifully and intelligently about aging; chapter 5 – embracing your face is ‘uplifting’ in an entirely different way. I’ve read and enjoyed all India Knight’s books both fiction and non fiction but this one was very disappointing.

I am approaching 50 and for the last few years have been finding that a lot of the trusted beauty products and make-up that I have relied on for years no longer seem to be working. This book is fantastic for saying what actually works and has multiple suggestions for each product type with all budgets catered for. It has introduced me to brands I’d never heard of and is giving me the confidence to try new things. It also recommends the few products that I already use that are still working for me, which makes me believe I can trust the other recommendations too. I also love the writing style – plenty of humour and very easy to read, or equally easy to dip in and out of if you want to remind yourself of the recommendations for a particular product type. I am very pleased I bought this.

Good measured advice/guidance which is sadly lacking in the social media. Rather calming to read also. Skim read it first but will use as reference gong forwards. Will recommend to my friends

This reminds me of an updated version of Sali Hughes beloved Pretty Honest book. I suspect India, Sali (and possibly Caitlin Moran) are mates in real life…if you like their ‘ we’re women and here it is, warts and all, and let’s have a laugh about it’ writing style this will be fun to read.

But the best reason to buy this book is for the product recommendations. Very inclusive in terms of skin tones, budgets and degree of faff you’re willing to undertake, this book cancels beauty product overwhelm – or at least makes you feel you much less likely to get bullied or ripped off at a beauty counter.

One warning; you may find yourself buying products online as you read. This can be addictive..

I like the author’s beauty articles in the Sunday Times and for that reason I bought her book but this is such a disappointing badly researched letdown. I wanted to curl up on the couch with this book and dip into it every now and then and find something new and exciting in it but you probably will have read it in 30 minutes.
When quite a large number of us are struggling with high bills, I don’t want to see a cleanser listed for £80. Why not recommend for example, L’Oreal Age Perfect cleansing milk for under £5, it cannot be bettered. Actually I resent the tag “make up for older people” what does that mean anyway. Yes I’m old but don’t remind me of it. No mention of Clinique’s Dramatically Different moisturising lotion, probably the best moisturiser in the world. No mention of the best cream blush, Bobbi Brown’s pot rouge. No mention of make up brushes, perfume, nail polishes, clarifying lotions, facial soaps, and probably the most essential beauty item of all, loose powder and pressed powder. So in a nutshell, don’t waste your money on this book, go treat yourself to a nice lipstick instead.

It contains lists of products in categories, but nothing else. I’d expected much more than product recommendations. It’s nicely written, but I wanted much more from this book. Also the price went down £7 the day after I purchased it. Sigh. Should have just bought a lipstick intstead.
