Great Read!
by Ursula Shepherd
This is the type of exposure that’s required to reach desperate audiences around the world. Have ordered my copy. A little story – my daughter was on a flight to Netherlands from UK and guy next to her was reading this book. She was curious and asked him. He gifted her his new book and said he’d get another one. She asked him to write something to remember the moment, which he did. Sounds like the first chapter grabbed hold of his heart and that giving and receiving with an open heart are equally as important. God bless. Thank you, Jim. I’ll read with a grateful heart.

This is the type of book you will not only recommend but also buy for others. I place this book in the top 5 most influential books I have read and it will be one of the very few I will be re-reading again and again. Although a lot of what Jim Murphy writes you can find elsewhere it is the way he has gathered it all together and made it clearer and easier to understand and all make sense that is the difference. I will be using the word ‘affluenza’ forever!

I am stealing this quote from another reviewer with my comments below it — “On January 12, during the NFC Wild Card game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers, TV cameras captured a surprising moment: Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was seen reading “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy on the sideline. The media quickly picked up on this, making headlines about an athlete reading during a high-stakes game. However, after reading Inner Excellence myself, I can understand exactly why Brown chose that moment to engage with the book.”
Me too. I bought this book almost as a joke, to play along with the spike in sales after the sideline incident. Why not help an author with an additional sale.
Turns out, joke was on me. I decided to open it and give the first chapter a chance to catch me, to move me, to convince me. What a wonderful journey this book and its exercises have been for me personally. I’ve used techniques, routines, breathing exercises, etc. with desired impacts. I’ve incorporated major pieces of this work into how I show up at work every day. But of all the lessons of this book, the journey to self-actualization is something I’ve taken most to heart. My view is I was already on that journey…but this book really showed me two reasons why it would prove ever elusive: ego and fear. Highly recommend this book if for no other reason than through its processes and exercises, it offers you a (Be prepared) realistic mirror of self and what you really need to change to improve your performance.

Great book if you are a person who strives to become better at what you‘re doing and enjoy it more with less anxiety. Would place this along with Tony Robbins Awaken the Giant Within as the top two books that change your life after reading.
One thing that it misses I think is how you can get to a state where you can think about inner excellence. Many people are pre-occupied with basic problems that they never get to a state where they can feel relaxed and embrace the lessons/insights written in this book as they are fighting for survival. Basically it‘s a privilege to be able to think about inner excellence. It‘s for the maybe 1% of the world population that have the luxury to think about this.

Kept hoping it would suddenly get better, to the point and inspiring but should have paid more attention to the red flag (no this isn’t a pipe, it is in fact only “a picture of a pipe”)
The perception of reality versus actual reality blah blah blah!
Without the massive use of quotes from truly extraordinary people this book would amount to a pamphlet.
Clever use of name dropping JK Rowling, Justin Rose & Bill Belichick as examples of success and by association the impression of a connection was definitely a “mental skill” but not for me, one that sat comfortably.
I’m not sure if his constant references to him being an ex professional sportsman responsible for coaching extraordinary performers was required by him to justify to himself or us that this is just another collection of quotes and observations of life by great historical figures with a bit of conjoined commentary.

Les deux étoiles sont sur la qualité du livre qui est un livre imprimé par Amazon dans une qualité bien inférieure à ce que l’on peut attendre d’un VRAI livre

Inner Excellence is a must read for everyone that wants to increase performance and enjoy life at the same style. The mixture between strategies, tactics and stories grapped my intention untill the end. Especially the stories of Jim himself and the athletes he worked with is so inspiring. Can’t wait for next books to come from Jim Murphy.

This book helps me stay focussed, even when the target share is not what I would like in a wildcard game and a tush push variation play that would have been housed for a TD didn’t come off. I always focus on the next drive and my bigger goals, and the larger goals and priorities of the collective. This book has ensured that I am always ready. Always open.
