This colouring book won’t be for everyone but I think it’s pretty good. The images are more simplistic when compared with Johanna’s other books so there is no intricate colouring to complete inside. Due to this, it makes it a good buy for children too. For any other time of the year I would find the designs a little too sparse, but at Christmas it’s a nice easy colouring project that should give me no problem completing by January 1st.
The paper quality is not as good as previous books which is a shame. The pages are white instead of the cream and the felt tips I used bled straight through. Watercolours were fine though.
There were some designs included such as the owl which has made several appearances in Johanna’s previous works so it’s not a completely new edition of drawings. It felt a bit like it was rushed out and a few odd old designs were thrown in to make up the numbers.
Pages are perforated so they can easily be removed and one sided with a full page pattern on the back.
Overall conclusion – a good colouring in book for christmas but not for those who enjoy intricate designs.

I pre-ordered this at the same time as Magical Jungle, and while I did like that, this is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most. I love Johanna’s work and I was very interested to see how her familiar style of fauna and flowers would translate into a Christmas theme. Johanna’s style looks just as magical in a Christmas bauble as it does a leaf.
Now that I’ve had my hands on the book I can say it’s not a disappointment and I can’t wait to fill the book in the build up to Christmas with my Daughter and the other Children in my family. I’ve not completed any colouring book in full yet as I like to move between a few so this book will last many Christmases and start a new tradition 🙂
There’s differences to Johanna’s other books, the book is floppy when picked up as the card cover isn’t as thick as the other three. It reminds if some US books I have, but I like this as it helps books lay flat, which is good for a colouring book. The sleeve is not removable though, although the inside is colourable. There’s also no big fold out illustration at the back which I was really hoping for.
All the pages are perforated so that they can be torn out. On the reverse of the designs you have a fainter printed repetitive pattern featuring baubles, gifts and holly. I’m undecided how I feel about this and wonder if they may make the book look unfinished if pages are not torn out. I think some people may not like that you get half the designs as her other books, but may be paying more, esp if pre ordered here. Her other books have all been £5-£6 and at £9 this ones higher, I do think it’s worth it and have already ordered another copy for my Daughter, but thought others may want to know.
Ink lines are clear and the paper used feels of a very similar quality to Johanna’s previous four titles. I have included photos of my favourites but I also have a video processing which shows you all the images in the book. I’ll also add my completed image once it’s done. I’m using felt tips and FineLiners and so far I’ve had no bleeding.
It’s a lovely book that adds further magic to Johanna’s work but even you’ve never bought any of her titles, but is also beautiful in it’s own right. I’m not usually one for the faff Christmas brings, but this book even makes me smile.

Thought I’d get this colouring book as I have all the others and the new one on back order. I really expected something special for Christmas but not overly impressed. Quite a few of the pictures appear to be the same or the same idea just different pattern and definitely not as thick as some of the other books.
Glad I got it so I can say I have the set but not the best by far
