8 year old loves it
by Bobslay
From 8 year old who uses the book: It was a nice book for me, it helped me a lot on the piano. Starts slow and then builds up. If you’re just beginning or something then you would need more information.

My husband was recommended this book by his piano teacher and he’s finding it very useful

The music is excellent for teaching the basics, but the words are designed for someone very much younger than I, by the time I’ve played through ‘How much wood could a woodchuck chuck a few times I’m reaching for the tippex’, and the other songs seem to be on a par. Ignore the words and the music does what it sets out do clearly and simply.

This book is full of nice easy pieces which any student would love to play. It is colourful and progressive. A recommended book for any learner.

This is Book A of the John Schaum piano course, for beginners learning at grade 1 level, although it is worth noting that it is actually the second book in the series. The Green book, which precedes this one, is the “Pre-A” book for learners with no experience in piano playing.
My nine-year old son has worked his way through these first two books and has found them to be a great introduction to piano. Unlike some courses that tend to progress too quickly, or never progress at all, these books seem to move along at a steady pace with subtle developments with each piece of music. We’ve been impressed at the overall progress in our son’s ability throughout these books and will hopefully continue with the course.

For my children and start to live to a challenging book with different finger positions. A very good book to start with.

This is the book I started learning to play the piano with as a child so when we got a piano, I naturally bought the john w. Schaum books to teach my children to play with. They are really good for children of all ages, and if you can look past the childish nature of the book, it would be perfect to teach an adult too.
