Joshua Weissman: An Unapologetic Cookbook. #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A Weissman once said…
“…can we please stop with the barrage of 2.3 second meals that only need 1 ingredient? I get it…we’re busy. But let’s refocus on the fact that beautifully crafted burgers don’t grow on trees.”
Great cooking does, and should, take time. How can you know if something is your favourite if 50 to 80 percent of the stuff you’ve been eating was made by someone else? Butter, condiments, cheese, pickles, patties, and buns. For a superior and potentially even life-changing experience, you can (and should, to be honest) make these from scratch.
While you’re at it, give your own twist. As Joshua would say, “If you don’t like blue cheese, then don’t use blue cheese.” With no regrets, excuses, or apologies, Joshua Weissman will instruct you how with his irreverent humour, a little bit of light razzing, and over 100 perfectly delectable recipes.
If you love to host and entertain; if you like a good project; if fast food or kitchen shortcuts keeps letting your tastebuds down; then Joshua Weissman: An Unapologetic Cookbook is your ideal kitchen companion.

Josh Wiessman, the new Jamie Oliver. If you are aware of his youtube channel you’ll know he is genuine chef – paid to do it – and scraped a lot of recipes, skills and experience in different foods, ubiquitously misrepresented in this cookbook. The recipes lack the fun of his youtube channel and are plainly dull. The choices are contrary and extreme odds to what you get form him on his youtube channel, where his takes on the high-street and offers improvements all achievable at home, going the extra mile for at least: superior taste and at most utter indulgece and maniacal fun for a dinner. A Whopper at home?! Come on!!! On youtube he sort of nails trendy menu items (not top tier or new wave foods, generally food that is newly part of any typical Western modern city)
HOWEVER… the book is anything but this…the recipe selecting is lazy and can be described as a total-sellout, reflecting a corporate high-street chain in the part of town where people for the suburbs go because it’s familiar and they can’t read menus without pictures.
Surprising really, what made him cool and almost recommendable and commendable to suggest to to chefs for a quick dinner, he’s one of us and a G who can slam a quick-fire dinner for mates at home… Wanna try In-N-Out but live in France, now you can… But none of this is delivered here, just boring. Uninteresting and read twice and walked away from twice – felt bad after a year fo not reading it only to face the regret for a 2nd time.
Perhaps I am not appreciating who this book is for… because it is not for people who care about their/friend’s health, people who know how to cook and/or people who can use Google to find any of these recipes. Rather, it’s for prospective “Secret Eater”s show participants, 14-17 year old boys whose diet is McDonalds and/or people who just ate a Frozen pizza to themselves and a whole snickers pack… this is for you. And, seriously, it would be a real improvement for them and an actual good choice because of how easy and pathetically simple and boring these recipes are… it’s highly achievable stuff!!! which going by the reviews is probably the majority of people and the West is shrinking in size and influence – well done, guys!!!
A shame really…I really adore this youtube channel and was hoping for something closer to that or in a similar vein, but this represents no improvement from Jamie Oliver’s early books at all… perhaps just a fast-food series would be the one.. target market and all. Makes you wonder “Why did he release a cookbook at all?!” Could have just put all the recipes on a youtube playlist and ask for $10s to support the channel.
Total disappointment and worst cookbook I have bought in years… do yourself a favour and skip the book and go the youtube channel, its free and significantly better for the info he shares. It simply doesn’t work as a standalone book and the recipes are also represent items that just would not get the search traffic or clickbait and hence ended up on this book.
Stand-out recipe: Few to choose from… maybe the Egg Soup, because that might actually be useful as a peasant’s dinner one night.
Worst of the bunch: take your pick, endless choices… but the obvious “perfect soft-boiled egg” is firmly the worst choice of recipe in a cookbook since the frist cookbook produced once a frying pan was invented. 1330 or sumit. Ridiculous.

The book is great, I’ve picked and chose what I want to make and I’ve mostly done well with it, user error and nothing to do with the instructions.
Really liking this book and the hardback with thick glossy pages helps not worry about getting crud on it, it has just wiped clean for me

Good cook book, food is really good but I was hoping for more meals then individual items

Bought this for a friend

Very good book, got it because I’m a fan of his channel, used it already for a friend’s birthday meal, was a hit ????. However it is important to note that this is not a recipe book if you’re looking for recipes for dishes. It does contain good recipes for bread and sauces etc. but this is not a recipe book for complete meals or dishes.

the book itself is nicely put together but I would of loved to see more genuinely dinner recipes and less sandwiches… great images. I believe all the recipes in this book you can find on his website. So that leaves a question what’s the point in buying one? Don’t get me wrong it’s always nice to have a book and when cooking not to be stuck to your phone. Also the book does have some good basics in it.
