Lots of details. It would be helpful to use the English descriptions of the positions along with the Sanskrit. The resolution of the positions in the Kindle version is so poor it’s difficult to see what is illustrated – a shame.

This Guide provides a unique insight and illustration of the effects Yoga has on the muscularskeletal parts of the body. Am becoming quite offay with medical terms and have acquired a greater appreciation of the power and long-term effect of this ancient tradition. Practising Yoga is not just about your dapper sportswear or ‘how low can you go’ and this Guide references to the fact there is a right and a wrong way to practise, especially when working alone. Would be even more assured if I knew any seriously minded, potential Yoga instructor used this Guide for reference as it provides another dimension to their expertise.
Looking forward to purchasing the accompanying Guide within the second book of this series.

Wow, this book is a real eye-opener and really gets down into the details of what goes on when your body is in the various asanas. This has helped me a lot in personal practice and in my training. The book is a little on the pricey side but it is worth getting if you are serious about your practice and development. There is a second volume
Key Poses of Yoga: Your Guide to Functional Anatomy in Yoga: 2 (Scientific Keys)
but this one will have to wait a little longer due to the cost.

Great book. I’ve found this book to be just what I need to be able to study the muscles used in yoga poses. Explained well with great diagrams. Well written. I’m using it to complete my yoga teaching training and its brilliant; just what I needed. Thank you.

I’m getting into the fitness profession and find this book absolutely perfect for learning functional anatomy. It is way more interesting and informative than most books I have read on this subject and the link with yoga makes it more accessible to me. The illustrations are key to the strength of this book, isolating the muscles being discussed and showing them in a yoga pose rather than a plain standing pose. Ray adds a lot of interesting points throughout the book that make memorising each muscle far easier. Instead of the lists of action, insertion and origin for each muscle, the book shows you or has some explanatory remark about what’s going on. The language used in the fitness business is explained and used clearly throughout the book. I can’t fault it. It’s a pleasure to read, which makes it stand out from more textbook-like books.

This book is.. I can’t even put words down!
I’ve recently started my journey towards Yoga Teacher Training (getting popular recommended reads on the courses) and this book is amazing for teaching me about the body and how the muscles function and the stretches that get to various muscle areas, as well as showing you the skeletal and muscled body do you can see what the testis talking about too.
I’ve just started reading this book and my partner is also looking at it and trying out the poses in the illustrations and learning along with me. I’m sure this book will educate me in how to practice yoga safely as well as encouraging muscle care.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn yoga and how it helps the body.

Very clear, excellent illustrations, detailed enough, without confusion for a beginner anatomy course. Good layout, easy to use most useful. The one tiny little disappointment was that on the first opening the apine separated from the pages. I had no time to return it as i had course deadlines to meet. Having said that the pages are firmly bound to eachother, theres just a gap in spine between cover and the babk of the pages.
