This is one of a series of mental maths books, which take your child from Year 1 through to the end of primary school. This book is aimed at the Year 2 age (6-7). Of course, there is a mental maths section in the Year 2 Sats test, so some practice will help improve your child’s score. This colourful and appealing workbook contains 35 practice tests, which get progressively harder, as well as progress tests after each 5 practice tests to track progress. The tests have practice questions in all key areas of the National Curriculum – Number and Place Value, Addition and subtraction, Multiplication and division, fractions, meaurement and geometry. Each test takes only a few minutes to complete, the answers are in the back of the book and there are lots of stickers to encourage and reward your child. This is a good buy and even one test per week will not take long and will give your child confidence in tackling mental maths questions in class.

My daughter doesn’t like maths, but she enjoys trying this and is trying to get the book complete. In each test there tends to be about half the questions she can do, 25% she struggles with and 25% she can’t do. To my mind that is about right.

Love this book for my six year old. One test per page my son loves them as only short so he doesn’t lose interest.!

An amazing book for 5-6 years old, in my case. Covers lots of areas, easy to spot where your child needs support.
Buy the next one up and I will definitely but it for my younger child too.

Brilliant books for identifying areas that need more work. Sticker rewards go down a treat and user friendly style.

These books are great, the tasks get very gradually more difficult and the repetitive questions help children to learn sums and times tables off by heart.
