Ferne nailed it… Really, really got it hit with a bullseye.

My kids are a PITA at times, but overall, glorious teenagers, transitioning into young adulthood. We didn’t know the gaps in their knowledge as we prepare them for life in the “big bad world” but Ferne did…

The words and tales in this book fill so many of the gaps that school simply doesn’t teach and as a parent, I didn’t think about until the kids were telling me about it, as they read this book.

If you have young adults in your house, buy them this book.

It will not not solve every teenage problem out there but it will reduce the pain and gaps in life skills that I didn’t know they needed…. even though every single one of them makes sense to me… How to balance your budget, stay fit and well… Get the “right job” etc…

I’m a dad of 6 and who’s been around the world a fair few times, I wish I had this for kid #1… But better late than never!

What I liked about this book is its straightforward approach to quite complex problems. It is written simply and understandably without minimising the difficulties involved in some of the topics. It covers all the basics of life skills. A really useful guide for young adults leaving home whether to the world of work or more study after school. Well done Fern!

I love this book! It’s extremely useful. With two teens and a tween, this book is filled with information that people of this age just don’t know (because they’re not taught it). It certainly fills in the gap!

When it comes to my teenagers, this book prompted me to talk more about issues we don’t usually talk about – especially the money issues. Although we cook together, it was good to have this as a reference for some basic meals and kitchen safety. My daughter is at the age when she will be ready to move out and we’ve realised how little she knows – but now she has this handy little guidebook.

I bought this book for myself. Admittedly I am not brilliant at some of the simple life skills I should be and this book covers them. It is easy to read and breaks things down simply for you to follow. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn some new skills that everyone should know or for young adults just about to fly the nest.
