Just did a Vietnam & Cambodia trip and must say some of the suggested “pristine” areas were not as pristine anymore -> thats mainly to super fast & truly intense development projects by Chinese Investors who build hotels & casinos everywhere in Cambodia and chop down jungles & ruin the last pristine beaches e.g. in Sinhoukville or in various Cambodian National Parks.

This book is fantastic!! I went travelling around south east Asia and this book gave me a great overview of each city I visited in all of these countries!! I was able to plan my trip from this book and I used it when I was travelling to discover quirky restaurants and things to do!

Used as a pre-cursor to going to SE Asia but Covid put and end to that. Overall a useful guide and helpful.

Great information, well researched and very useful on my trip to SE Asia. Background info is interesting, logistics were well laid out and in a good amount of detail. I used recommendations for accommodation, trips, spas and independent guides and I was never disappointed. I started with a different guide which was useless by comparison. Lonely planet are the best I’ve found.

Lonely planet is always a good travel guide, they keep them up to date and tell you most things you need to know. One niggle about this is it covers a lot of countries/places in one book, so not as detailed as you usually get when the guide is focused on one country at a time. So I thought the travelling and eating and hotels was all pretty good, but the things to do were a bit lacking.

I bought this just before travelling to the region. First, it’s great for me that it focuses on Northern Thailand (I guess the islands need a separate one). Second, the guide provides excellent coverage of most things to do in the region. I found it a bit lacking on accommodation (there are many suggestions, but HostelWorld was better for me). I tried their activities (rice farming, elephant bathing, ziplining, cooking classes, tours), they were great, and I guess it would have been much harder to find them without this. Excellent choice overall, would definitely recommend!

Its a good guide. I had the previous version in paperback, which was much easier to use, get around and keep track of. The ‘e-version’ is not so useful and it was very, very expensive for this Kindle version! O would recommend the paperback version.
