Losers: Part I

£3.30

I was supposed to have it all.

I’d been Prom Queen, Cheer Captain – high school’s most savage Queen Bee. I could have everything I wanted.
Except them. The freaks, the weirdos, the school’s ultimate losers: Manson, Jason, Lucas, and Vincent. Our hatred for each other couldn’t keep us apart, not even when my own mistake got Manson expelled and made me the ultimate villain to the rest of them.

One night was supposed to be enough.

I couldn’t resist forever. For one night I gave myself over to the men I wasn’t supposed to want and satisfied the darkest parts of my soul. But some things are meant to stay in the dark. One night, and it was over.

Nothing more than a game.

Now, with college behind me, our worlds collide yet again. Four men, all willing to share me as their plaything until my debt to them is paid. Another game to satiate my dark cravings, the twisted rules of which bring us all even closer than before. But games aren’t meant to last.

When the debt is paid and the game is done, what if I don’t want to walk away?

Although not required, it is recommended to read the novella, The Dare, prior to reading Losers.

This book is part 1 of a duet. It is First Person, Multi POV.

Losers is an 18+ polyamorous bisexual romance between one woman and four men, including MF, MM, and group scenes. Reader discretion is strongly advised, this is a dark read. This book contains graphic sexual scenes, intense scenes of BDSM, graphic violence, and strong language. A full content note can be found in the front matter of the book.

So I went into this thinking it would just be a steam fest. Don’t get me wrong it is steamy AF but the connection these 5 have had me swooning I love it. I am diving straight into Part 2!

I went into this thinking it would basically just be smut from start to finish. I mean, that’s why I decided to read it tbh (book slumps are real!)

But, I was pleasantly surprised that there is a good storyline outside of the kinky stuff. I found myself connecting with the characters and really enjoying the bits between the spice.

I love how there are multiple relationships within the group but they’re ultimately a family. It’s really lovely!

I’m looking forward to reading the next one for sure!

I had read the prequel, The Dare, to this book and loved it. Couldn’t wait to read this. But the pages were all jumbled and out of order with paragraphs missing. I’ve gave it 5 star because it’s not the story that’s bad just the download. Had to return. Hoping to read it somewhere else.

Ever since I read The Dare I knew I wasn’t done with Manson and Jess, or the rest of the boys and I will forever the grateful that Harley wasn’t either. The one night of wanton abandon Jess experiences in The Dare is nothing more than an appetiser in comparison to the full course meal of kink, love and self-exploration we are treated to with Losers: Part 1!

Losers is set a few years after The Dare, college is over and Jess has no choice but to face the life in her hometown, including the people she left behind…four, very distinct people in particular that she hasn’t been able to get our of her mind since that one night at Halloween…

I’ll start by sharing that I was never a fan of stories with multiple partners and I’ll be honest I’m probably still not, however with that said what Harley has crafted here is truly a story of Polyamorous Love to the core. The fact that each of the MMC’s has such a deep connection to the other bathes this story in such a sense of unadulterated love that you can’t help but feel that it is not only right, but exactly the way the universe intended it. Almost like they had to live through their formative years in order to find each other and be exactly where they were and with who they were supposed to be.

In my opinion this book should be the new poster child for the genre of Dark Romance. There are so many heart clenching, pure romantic moments between all of the characters all with that tinge of the unconventional. The explicit and continuous seeking of proper consent and insistence that all parties remember and promise to use their safewords is enough to make my insides mush. Manson’s knife makes another appearance in one of these moments early on and I agree with Jess, I’d have wanted it to scar too….

Harley gives each of the boys enough time to truly be understood, woven into the story so that the reader feels like they’re getting to know each of them deeper at the same time as Jess herself is. We explore them, learn about them and fall in love with them right along with her and that, although subtle is so powerful. I absolutely loved the inclusion of the boy’s hobbies and how they’re part of the story in a way that isn’t glossed over or generalised, Jason’s car has a Rocket Bunny kit for us to drool over and the description of them on Discord playing what I’m guessing is Overwatch? in *that* scene just made my heart happy in what is such a celebration of acceptance.

One of my favourite things about Harley’s writing is how she is able to present characters who are multifaceted, providing a sense of depth and realism that allows us to connect closer with the characters. Manson, Lucas, Jason and Vincent all have their outward selves, the person the rest of the world sees but as the story unfolds and the layers peel away we’re rewarded with seeing their insecurities, hopes and vulnerabilities.

Of course we also get to explore the dirtiest desires each of the Loser has when it comes to Jess and showing her just what she gave up. From worship to pain to primal she’s a lucky girl I can tell you that! The spice is off the charts with some of the hottest scenes I have quite possibly ever read.

Manson is Daddy. I feel like I can just leave that statement there because wow is that man gifted with the ability to take away his lover’s cares and replace them with secutiry and warmth (hypothetical, if Manson wants you to shiver you better bet that’s what you’ll be doing).

Lucas is my favourite brand of violent with a well worn stuffed toy that’s been run over a few times inside, he and Manson’s connection is end game.

I’ll be honest I struggled with Jess, being everything I myself shied away from in High School. Don’t get me wrong, I was so happy to see her character development and proud of her for finally making the decision to no longer suppress her true self in favour of what everyone else thought was right. I think there’s a lesson in there for all of us. Her growth was reminiscent of the villain backstory, showing us the lived circumstance that has solidified her own outward mask but every now and then I had to swallow the bitter taste of whether she deserved these four amazing men and I’m looking forward to seeing her continue to prove herself in Part 2.

The bully romance is a good dark and spicy story. The characters are built in such a way that you end up liking and rooting for them.

So this was really nice book, not gonna lie there was some things I didn’t like much about this book.
For example how easy Jess was keep offering her body or pictures as payment, that was before their whole agreement, she was offering it left and right. She seemed too easy, too desperate. Would’ve like female lead to have bit more dignity as spine.
I didn’t liked that Lucas and Manson was together.
When we find out Vincent and Jason is together I thought that was really cool, but when we find out Lucas and Manson is together as well, I felt that was bit too much , kinda wanted that at least one guy would be fully into Jess, not it seemed like they already had everything, Jess was like nice trophy for fun, I know they care about her but those feelings started to come out closer to the end of book, whole book seemed like they have more like weird obsession about her, to dominate her and similar.
I felt there was bit too much 24/7 bdsm between Jess and guys, I kinda wanted at least couple chapters with regular interactions, with no nosing around or anything. It was too much for my liking since there wasn’t any plot going alongside it.
Ending of book was really disappointing, I was hoping something will happen closer to ending that will leave us wanting to dive straight into book 2 to see what will happen, maybe one of guys mess up or mansions father will do something, but there was no cliff hanger or anything ,book ending was so simple that I’am not quite sure I want to read book 2 as apart all bdsm scenes , there’s hardly anything going on in book, nothing to look forward to, it’s pretty clear already they’ll end up together.
Easy plot , loads of bdsm scenes, hardly anything going on apart that, if that’s all you like , I would recommend this book, if you want more plot twist or actual story going on alongside bdsm scenes, this book is definitely not it.

The way I was waiting for the next book in the series to come out and it came and I read it so quickly. I loved everything about this book and the spiciness and darkness was just everything I could ask for. Please check trigger warnings before reading thought just in case!
