This is an absolutely brilliant book. Some of the reviews have said its too technical. It is a little technical – but if you start right at the beginning and take your time – it makes you really understand the craft of pattern drafting and using a basic block to tailor to individual sizes and allow for ‘problem areas’ – e.g. like me big boobs ! It shows how the basic block is adapted to make the whole range of garments, demonstrating how clothes are put together. Its NOT a sewing book .. its a pattern drafting book. Great ………….

Great book, easy to show, read how to make a pattern. 100% recommended for beginners like me and for professionals

It is a technical reference book which is very interesting and I would recommend it if you want to draft your own patterns but don’t buy it to learn to sew because it is not for that.

For someone who has used commercial patterns and has an understanding of how garments are made from a pattern, this is a great book. You really can make your own clothes from it. I do think another book which details how to sew clothes together and various techniques would be a good companion.

Comprehensive book on making pattern blocks to fit! Shop bought patterns are expensive and often don’t fit properly. With this book, I can draft my own pattern blocks to use as a template for many different outfits.

Awesome

I drafted the skirt and I was very pleased with it, and I have modified the pattern to make A line skirts and godet skirts, BUT the bodice!!! I have tried drafting it with industry measurements, personal measurement, adjusted personal measurements and I get the same result, doesn’t work! Its so annoying. I have seen that some customers have found errors in the instructions. Are you willing to share those errors? I feel I have reached a brick wall in my sewing by using this book. So disappointed.

I was disappointed with the newer standard measurements charts as doesn’t got up to size 30 like the older version.
