I am a teacher for 10+ years and having seen many books of this kind, I would say this is a very solid book for teaching Maths to students in year 4 of the primary school. The book is mostly follows a method in which students solve the problems by themselves for each chapter and then evaluate themselves by looking at the answers which are at the end of the book and count how many gems they have collected. They usually find it fun to do so and feel inclined to gather as many gems as possible. And if you are worried that they will just peak the answer and copy it, it will not work as they have to be able to demonstrate how they got to the answer in order to get the full gem bonus.
I find this book ideal to give to my students as homework and count the gems they collected the next day. Another way to use it is as a review book during breaks such as the summer break, Xmas, half terms etc.
The book itself is vividly coloured and also introduce us to two heroes who are going on an adventure. The students have to help those heroes answer the problems of the book in order to succeed in their mission. They will see follow-ups of how our heroes are doing every few pages. The book covers all the material that is taught in year 4 in the UK and then some. It is divided into many small chapters of 2 pages each which is good as you can easily split small amounts of homework for each day/week. There are about 90 pages of useful material after excluding the answers section and other supportive pages in the book. The difficulty level is medium towards advanced, so I would recommend to use it second as a practice book, after using an easier difficulty book first to introduce a student to a mathematical concept.

This is a great exercise book for your children to practice their work at home over the Easter break!
It follows the characters in minecraft navigate various problems which your children solve using maths. Very clever and very useful, especially whilst your kids are into it!
Good quality, good value. Highly recommend them!
