Beautifully bound and generously sized reprint of this profound saga from Moebius. The extra material at the front helps introduce what’s to come.

The reason I love this artist so much is the combination of beautifully detailed and coloured artwork with wildly unbounded imagination.

Treat yourself or a sci-fi fan to this for Christmas and help encourage Dark Horse to translate and reprint more of Moebius’s important work.

It’s fantastic and has all the thought provoking sci fi elements I want from a Moebius story. The book itself is a sturdy impressive hardback with large frames and great colours. I’m a big fan of Jean Giraud and will buy more Moebius Library books if they bring them out.

Apart from the two issues Moebius drew of The Silver Surfer for Marvel, this is the first of his work that I’ve picked up in English and what an extraordinary job Dark Horse have done.

The book is a high quality hardback production, with thick glossy pages and a printing quality that really makes the art pop. For the price I paid I really didn’t expect such a large and beautifully produced book but I’m glad that Dark Horse have gone that extra mile for such a wonderfully written and drawn story.

This is Dark Horse’s first book in The Moebius Library and I hope the quality will remain as high throughout the upcoming books.

I can’t believe I only just discovered this, it’s absolutely amazing! A must-read for anyone who’s a sci-fi/fantasy/adventure fan. The story is complex and the artwork is spectacular.

you can’t deny moebius’ genius, and this volume of his most inventive science fantasy creation reinforces that position. beautiful line work, intense colours and a trancendant story. the last volume is here also, translated for the first time into english. if i was being pernickety i might say something about how they could have taken the opportunity to do something regaring the possibly overintense colour reporduction in volume three that threatens to overwhelm the line work, but frankly that would be churlish. at this price, you should buy it.

Never judge a book by its cover. Well I did, and I’m glad I did. I think I was searching for graphic novel prints of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets in anticipation of the upcoming movie, and this was in the recommendations section that Amazon always gets you with.

Intrigued by the artwork on the cover, and the fact I’d never heard of Moebius before, I clicked on it and flicked through the Look Inside images. I was hooked. After a bit of research I decided to add it to my wishlist where it sat forgotten for ages. I saw it again in a physical bookstore a couple of months later, however it was sealed so I couldn’t look through it, I quickly checked Amazon and it was on sale so I bought it there and then on impulse (brick & mortar stores must hate customers like me).

Well, I was not disappointed. In fact, the only disappointment is not buying it sooner. The artwork is simple and gorgeous. I love that style of science fiction artwork, it reminds me almost of The Jetsons (which I also love). The inkwork and colours are amazing and a part of the world of Edena itself. The storyline is intelligent, interesting and thought provoking. The characters are well developed I feel, although Stel more so than Atana. I wont reveal anymore in order to encourage you to buy it, and of course avoid spoilers.

I can’t fault the quality of the printing, the hardback cover is of excellent quality. The pages are a beautiful heavyweight and glossy paper with really vibrant, bright and high quality print and colours. I really can’t find fault with the quality of the physical book itself.

So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well I did feel the final chapter ran out of steam towards the end, although not disappointed by the ending, far from it, I did feel there was something missing I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I also wondered what happened to some of the “extras” who appear earlier in the book. I suspect the answers are in the book and I need to read it again to realise.

I’ll definitely be buying more books by Moebius in future, I’m fully converted. Recommended.
