Most Dangerous Superstition
£22.44
Actual physical, hold in your hand, read on a beach, sell second-hand or give to a friend, book. When someone looks out at the world and sees all manner of suffering and injustice, stretching back for thousands of years and continuing today, he invariably blames such problems on someone else’s hatred, greed, or stupidity. Rarely will someone consider the possibility that his own belief system is the cause of the pain and suffering he sees around him. But in most cases, it is. The root cause of most of society’s ills–the main source of man’s inhumanity to man–is neither malice nor negligence, but a mere superstition–an unquestioned assumption which has been accepted on faith by nearly everyone, of all ages, races, religions, education and income levels. If people were to recognize that one belief for what it is–an utterly irrational, self-contradictory, and horribly destructive myth–most of the violence, oppression and injustice in the world would cease. But that will happen only when people dare to honestly and objectively re-examine their belief systems. “The Most Dangerous Superstition” exposes the myth for what it is, showing how nearly everyone, as a result of one particular unquestioned assumption, is directly contributing to violence and oppression without even realizing it. If you imagine yourself to be a compassionate, peace-loving, civilized human being, you must read this book.

Says it all in the first 5 pages after that it’s just repeating. Better off reading dominic Frisby, life after the state.

My copy arrived on recently. It IS a most excellent book … although I haven’t read it all, primarily because I had already watched all of Larken’s videos, and already understood what he’s been saying, anyway.
But TMDS does, in excruciating detail, utilise SINGLE-THINK exclusively to expose all the insanity & absurdity of the DOUBLE-THINKING ‘Statists’ (those who believe in “Government”).
His logic is faultless (and somewhat breath-taking, at times).
Just about every statement anyone ‘pro-Government’ could make … is taken apart and shown to be utterly absurd (to be nothing more than DOUBLE-THINK).
(DOUBLE-THINK = It is … and it isn’t … at much the same time. Or, to put it another way, to ‘cherrypick’ what one advocates at one point in time, and then to ‘cherrypick’- to advocate exactly the opposite – a minute later. Never once accepting The Whole Truth at any point in time. DOUBLE-THINK is how fallacies are created. DOUBLE-THINK gets us nowhere. DOUBLE-THINK just extends ‘arguments’ endlessly. DOUBLE-THINK is the meat & drink of ‘Social Networking’.)
It would not be possible to recommend this book more highly.
Everyone on the entire planet needs to read it.

Larken Rose is one of the very few people that see things as they really are.
This book explains the whole concept of the ruling class and how they have fooled us into doing their bidding and much more besides.
If you’ve seen his youtube channel then you know enough about this man to know he is an serious thinker.
Buying this book will open new ways of approaching situations in life and help you answer some long forget questions.
A must read for anyone willing to help themselves understand why sh*t happens for no good reason.

Come to know what anarchy is in the truest sense of the word. The only way to be sovereign and free is to give up the belief that anyone had the right to rule over you. Highly recommend also Rose’s course “candles in the dark”, a way to speak to people who have been indoctrinated as statists, without coming across as a crazy evangelical or trying to persuade anyone of anything.

The whole read of the book makes so much practical sense, so much so that the obvious is not always obvious.
This is the sort of education that should be taught in schools to enable people to think they are their own masters, not brain washed from anybody else’s command or authority to control the populace into slavery. God has given us the equal right to govern ourselves with free will, nobody has any more rights than anybody else. However, what we are taught in school is the inverted philosophy of the Western world.
There is so much more one could say but that would need writing another book which is not necessary as this book serves that purpose very well.
Yes Larkin Rose has hit the nail on the head and we need more like him.

I identify myself as a voluntarist, so let’s begin by saying that I agree with the general message of the book that we do not need “authority” as in “legitimate coercion” in our societies and we are better off without it. Unfortunately though, most of the book was a disappointment for me.
The gist of it can be summed up in a single paragraph, yet the author managed to write a book out of it by repeating himself to death. Apart from the repetition which was very tiring, there are many premises all over the place, although that’s the nature of discussing something unknown I guess. Also, the author gets out emotional from time to time and that has been negatively affecting the quality of the book. Halfway through I realized I was wasting my time so I skipped to Part IV which is where the author proposes an alternative to “government” and where I hoped I could take something away from. The gist of that part is “Privitize everything and fix schooling. Incentives, deterrents, and morals will get us through”. He also devotes a paragraph to diss “anarcho-communism” which was also another weak spot in the book, full of premises and contradictions. So his solution is kind of obvious: by dismissing common goods and the state, the only thing left is privitization of everything.
I probably had high expectations, there was nothing new to me or interesting that I can use or build upon in there. I wanted to read about practical ideas on how to get to the point when government is not necessary anymore, but as it happens with most political discussions, this has been mostly mumbo jumbo. This is probably a good read for ancaps and libertarians but that’s about it.

From the outset, Mr Rose explains quite clearly and coherently, the evil that comes from the belief in authority. He presents his explanation logically and provides many examples as to why this belief is the most dangerous superstition. He demonstrates with numerous examples the ignorance behind the idea that without authority we would descend into chaos and offers insights into what a world free from this belief could look like. In my opinion this book should be compulsory reading for everyone capable of reading and especially parents.
