Little Miss Neat is hosting a Chinese New Year celebration and she wants to get it perfect she asks her friends for help decorating with for a feast (of which Mr Greedy forgets the fish custom!) with a dragon dance the next day led by Mr Muddle (oops!) and a novel Mr Men way to scare away the bad luck after Mr Bump has an accident with the fireworks and a pond.
This is packed with bites of information it’s almost a nonfiction book but joined together in a nice story in that gentle Hargreaves manner. An ideal morning basket or seasonal corner addition whether at home or educational setting- obviously aimed at preschool to 5ish but the level of information and sentence structure would certainly make this a comfortable and informative read for older children too. My 4 year old loves to peruse this book and cross reference it with her other Chinese New Year books making links and comparisons.
I love what Adam Hargreaves is doing to keep his father’s Mr Men world firmly part of childhood for future generations, this is a great seasonal idea in the spirit of the original stories but new and accessible. Highly recommended.

Great little book to introduce all the chinese traditions related to chinese new year. This 16page paperback book is better than I expected and although is introducing so many new year traditions, it manages to tell it in a fun story. As an adult, I enjoyed reading this to my 5yr old and 2yr old and they enjoyed listening. Will be buying copies for friends.
