I really enjoyed this book, gave a great base for those who either don’t remember or haven’t watched the Disney movie Mulan that meant the book flowed amazingly. Great adventures they had with a few turns thrown in. I love the background of meng po and how she explained who she was. I really like how in this book we know who Mulan is as she made the decision during her mirror task whereas in the movie it was the emporier which just add even more women power in this book. Highly recommended

Mulan has been my favorite female disney character, the way Elizabeth Lim writes about her, about all that she’s going through and how she feels, made me like her even more, I feel that I got to truly know her in this book. The story is exciting from beginning to end, seriously I couldn’t put it down. Loved how you can easily immerse yourself in the story thanks to Elizabeth Lim’s approach on every detail. Also, I was fascinated by the incorporation of Chinese legends. Definitely a must read!

This story offers up a really unique take on the Mulan story and for me this was one of the books that took me longer to get absorbed in reading but as the story went on I really did find myself loving the story and was delighted I stuck with this. This is one of the best offerings in the twisted tales series so far and well worth a read.
