Everything is laid out in a sequential order that allows the reader to fully understand one part before moving onto to the next. It starts easy…and with the knowkedge acquired by reading each section, it opens the next door. So what May have appeared really, really difficult to understand becomes easy. Therefore the understanding and learning process is never difficult. James Shipway has the knack of explaining complex theories. I’m deadly impressed.
There are knowledge tests for every section. This is brilliant, because if you give an incorrect answer, it only requires you to flip back one or two pages, re-read the section and answer the questions again. It is interactive with the other resources accompanying the book (E.g. the free audio lessons).
The cost of this 3 in 1 book is ridiculously cheap. It has enabled me to crack the code, so to speak. I’m 68 years young and took up the guitar again 2 years ago after a 42 year hiatus. I knew zilch about theory, but every day now, my knowledge increases…er, unfortunately at a faster rate than my guitar playing skills, but I’m trusting that will improve with practice.

I purchased this 3 books in 1 after searching for something clear to explain music Theory.
Not only do you get the book, but also downloadable audio descriptions of each chapter as you work through. The audio is perfectly clear, well spoken, and i feel delivered in an enthusiastic manner. Just like havng your teacher right there with you.
The Book is clearly and cleverly laid out with appropriate diagrams, including a, test yourself section at the end of each chapter.
I personally love this book and find the learning method interesting and fun when you arrive at a light bulb moment.
The book clearly shows the excellent knowledge of the author, James Shipway. Not only does he have the knowledge, but a true ( No Bull ) approach to his teaching methods.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn guitar theory.. You won’t be disappointed!!!

This is a really helpful set of books for guitarists who want to learn practical music theory specifically related to the guitar. It has easy to follow stages which build as they go along, starting simply and getting more complicated helping you to build up a sound knowledge.

Bought the books: Music Theory for Guitarists – the Complete Method, The Caged System for Guitar, The Circle of Fifths for Guitar and Barre Chords for Guitar. They’re all very good and straight to the point. No waffle. No Bull. That’s what I wanted and that’s what I got. Perfect.

I’ve not had this book long so have not delved into the depths as yet, but judging by my experience of the first 6-8 sections I find this book very informative and so easy to understand. It is a great source of essential musical theory and starts at a very simple level. The explanations in each section are very clear and there is a short test at the end of each to assess what you’ve learned. I’m not the quickest of learners so I find this format very encouraging and an excellent method of learning which is already changing and enhancing my understanding of my guitar practice and playing.
