Superb – Ying Ying Ng’s series is the best thing to happen to music theory education since the invention of the printing press.

Hi,
To save me from writing out the self same thing five times (yes, I am lazy!), if you are remotely interested, please refer to my review of Book Five of this series.
Recommended – with a huge proviso.

This book is good but misleading. It is plastered with “New Syllabus” claims and revised in 2020 when the new syllabus did in fact come out. However, it includes large amounts of information, such as the Composition section and a large percentage of the musical terms that are no longer included in the exam at all. Until a genuinely up-to-date version is produced I would advise against wasting a lot of time working through so much irrelevant material.

A good clear guide with thought out progression through the syllabus. But does include composition, which is no longer in the abrsm grade 5 exam. The lack of solutions at the back is still a major fault, particularly for home schoolers!
