My First Piano Adventure Lesson Book A.: Lesson Book A: Pre-Reading
£8.10
(Faber Piano Adventures ). Written for ages 5 and 6, My First Piano Adventure captures the child’s playful spirit. Fun-filled songs, rhythm games and technique activities develop beginning keyboard skills. Three distinguishing features of the Lesson Book A make it unique and effective for the young 5-6 year old beginner. 1. A strong focus on technique embedded in the book through playful technique games, chants, and carefully-composed pieces that gently lead the child into pianistic motions. 2. Outstanding audio tracks on CD and via online access for the young student to listen, sing, tap, and play along with at the piano. The orchestrated songs feature children singing the lyrics, which has great appeal to the 5-6 year old beginner. The audio becomes a ready-made practice partner that guides the student and parent for all the pieces and activities in the books. 3. The fanciful art features five multi-cultural children who are also learning to play. These friends at the piano introduce basic rhythms, white key names, and a variety of white and black-key songs that span classical, folk, and blues. Young students will listen, sing, create, and play more musically with Nancy and Randall Faber s My First Piano Adventure, Lesson Book A. The Lesson Book introduces directional pre-reading, elementary music theory and technique with engaging songs, games, and creative discovery at the keyboard. Young students will enjoy the multi-cultural “friends at the piano” who introduce white-key names, basic rhythms, and a variety of songs which span classical, folk, and blues. Ear-training and eye-training are also part of the curriculum. The Fabers’ instructional theory “ACE” – Analysis, Creativity, and Expression, guides the pedagogy of My First Piano Adventure. Analysis leads to understanding, creativity leads to self-discovery, and expression develops personal artistry. The audio for this book offers a unique listening experience with outstanding orchestrations and vocals. The recordings demonstrate a key principle of the course: when children listen, sing, tap, and move to their piano music, they play more musically. View Helpful Introductory Videos Here

My preferred method the CD is a fantastic addition, it really helps the young students engage. It contains a large variety of themes for both girls and boys.Other piano methods often are boring and unimaginative and make it a challenge to keep the child interested and engaged during lesson, this book is the complete opposite.

this book appeals to older children as well . especially those who are visual learners. it is gentle and does not jump to dots on the page right away … Sound before sight ….I use books from the entire series by these authors and recommend them fully.

Bought for our 6 year old daughter to aid her with her piano lessons. She is absolutely loving it compared to other books shes previously used. Especially enjoying the CD at the back that she can play along with.

I have been teaching piano to under 5 years for a while. This book was recommended buy a fellow piano teacher and it has been amazing for my piano practice.
This book is suitable to children over 3 years old to 5/6 years old. It starts gently by exploring the sounds at the piano (short, long, soft, loud), then introduces playing on the black keys with fingers 2 and 3, then with fingers 2-3-4 and then introducing the white keys, etc…
The pieces are simple and have very nice piano accompaniments. The CD is also fabulous. And the kids absolutely love learning with it.
If you are a piano teacher and have an under 5yo student, DO buy this book (alongside with the writing book). It will work wonders. ????

I bought this on the off chance after searching various music stores for a piano book suitable for teaching a 5 year old. This book is perfect as it takes into account the reading skills of children this age and presents the themes in a colourful and imaginative way as required for Key Stage 1 music. It’s a big plus too that you can go online and see how some of the lessons are taught and these have been especially helpful particularly if you are not used to teaching this age group. In addition to the tutor, I bought the writing book that is used alongside the piano book. I also purchased some coloured stickers, coloured crayons and some percussion instruments as these are needed throughout. Each lesson is taught with a song in a fun way, with clefs and musical notation introduced later on. So far I’m about half-way through book 1 and even though some of the examples are not relevant to children in this country, you can easily substitute other ideas. My pupil is loving it so far and has learned all the songs by heart because her Mother plays the cd in the car on the way to and from school!! I hope the momentum and enjoyment continues through the rest of the series.

My seven year old is starting to learn to play. This was recommended by his piano teacher and lessons are set around the book. Having nearly completed book A, I am impressed at the progression in a family with no musical ability at parental level.
