I was dubious at the start of this based on the concept and the over frequent references to being a pet, but in the end I really enjoyed this. It was refreshing to read as it felt like the imperials had a very different culture, which is exactly what you would expect for an alien race, even if they were genetically similar to humans. The dual POV where each of the characters weren’t quite understanding each other was also really interesting, and I thought it was well balanced and realistic. The sex scenes were also written in a really different tone compared to your standard trashy spice, which was again refreshing, and damn they were still hotttt.
I felt the real world themes were perfectly balanced, they weren’t shoved down your throat but it was very thought provoking.
I do think the book could have been a bit longer, and we could have spent more time learning about the politics and the imperial government and the propaganda. I would love a sequel as I think it would be interesting to learn more about the imperials, but I feel like Ensley’s story is complete. I guess I’ll just have to read your other books!

This is so not my usual genre but it’s always good to embrace something different.
I’m completely on board with enemies to lovers and dark mafia romances so the themes throughout this story weren’t shocking to me. Overall it’s a good story. I personally think I’ll stay away from alien stuff it’s just not my thing, but I can completely understand the appeal.

A story about alien abduction from the view point of the human pet and her alien owner. The story of misunderstandings and eventually understanding. Very sexually explicit in places but this is integral to the story. Good.

I was a little unsure at first with this story but the writing was really good and made reading the story enjoyable.

An interesting read. I found it very thought provoking. I love the twist at the end ( I’ll say no more) and that the author explains the inspiration behind the book

This was a quick read, that being said it does give the reader lots to think about. It is spicy but it has a good plot which makes it worth a read….

Well….I hardly know how to begin ,I read enough in this alien meets human genre that this is written from a very unusual and imaginative perspective. It is often hard to stomach and you feel so angry for Ensley and feel her frustration in not being able to communicate that she is an intelligent sentient being , her owner a male of military rank loves and cares for her in his own way and believe me when I say ,in his own way ! his cultural differences and the general miss information about the nature of humans creates for some very offensive scenes ( offensive to Ensley). You never feel that Seb is an evil man though and he has a quite a learning curve , you get that the whole society is in denial about humans if they are so barbaric , why are they so completely besotted and obsessive about them.? It’s not too hard to work out, and you realise they crave us but we were very happy never knowing about them!
I personally enjoyed the end of the book I think the last few chapters satisfy the reader when our pet finally gets the chance to say a few home truths.

I carried on reading because I was committed and determined to finish (curse you ADHD). Main character seems to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome, and her captor is pretty unlikeable. Flat in places like her family not questioning her disappearance etc.
Few errors in book -no proofreading? – and quite repetitive with words at times.
