I’ve been using this book to help me with revision for a level RS. It had really helped me break down the information and had great illustration. 100% recommend

I use this book with my B.Ed student RS teachers. We have a very short module to cover Judaism and Islam with students who may not have done either of these religions for GCSE or A-Level. This book covers the essentials in good depth, but in a condensed format which I appreciate. It also shows them the level of subject knowledge expected at A-Level and helps them to create relevant and detailed teaching resources and pupil booklets.

I brought this book on a whim as I was planning a scheme of work for my year 8 class and it did not disappoint! Topics are explained excellently with great questions to use in practice, layout is straight forward and easy to navigate. It generated lots of ideas for lessons. A one stop book for Islam.

As a Primary RE teacher, I have often worried that my subject knowledge of Islam would not stand the kind of interrogation children in KS2 often offer. This book is detailed and well-researched and has hugely increased my confidence in teaching Islam as a worldview authentically in the primary classroom. Its simple explanations make complex concepts accessible to teachers and the inclusion of coherent explanations of the diversity within Islam have inspired me to include more of this in my planning. We would never teach Islam with this much depth at Primary, but to avoid misrepresentation and misconceptions it is essential that teachers feel confident in their own understanding.

This is an A level revision guide, but should be in the CPD library of every primary school. The best investment I have made this year!

My Revision Notes: A-Level Religious Studies Islam by Waqar Ahmedi has been my favourite book to read this year for Islamic subject knowledge. As a subject lead, finding resources on Islam that are accessible, rigorous and authentically diverse can be difficult. Ahmedi’s book is well researched, concise and committed to authentically explaining the rich diversity in Islamic thought. A must read for teachers keen to brush up on their subject knowledge and students who want an accessible resource to support them through their studies.
