My Strong Mind: A Story About Developing Mental Strength
£9.50
Teach your children about Mental Strength, Resilience and a Growth Mindset. With My Strong Mind your children will be introduced to mental strength and learn social skills and techniques to develop their own strong mind.
This first My Strong Mind introduces Kate, a sporty and happy girl who uses her strong mind to tackle her daily challenges with a positive attitude.
Kate faces several situations your children will face too. She applies a positive attitude to deal with her challenges. Amongst them are getting ready in time in the morning, doing cartwheels, standing in front of the whole class with show and tell and playing basketball.
Kate applies techniques like goal setting, positive self-talk, accept failure as learning, visualisation of a problem, breathing or mindfulness exercise, gratitude, and controlled distraction.
These tips to build a strong mind in children are presented in an easy to read, fun and practical way. All tips and techniques your children learn are evidence based to improve mental health, well-being and performance.
It’s a great book for children, especially those at primary school, to read under their own steam. Kate’s story will open the door for your children to commence building their own strong mind.
The My Strong Mind book series are the world’s only children’s books that educate parents and children around the scientifically validated 4 Cs of mental toughness: Commitment, Control, Confidence & Challenge.

My 6 year old always becomes worried she is unable to achieve certain things, this book has helped understand that it is ok to not get it correct the 1st time. I find this a good read for children to start to understand about their mental health and how to cope with this, thank you for this wonderful book.

I recommend you to buy this book only if your child is struggling with things like bulling in school or other recognisable psychological issues. Otherwise your child won’t benefit from it, but will make a problem! It happened with my 5 yo. And I think that the ‘technique’ proposed in the book work for 7yo or older. A 5 yo can’t really understand or apply them, they look quite confusing to them. The book is OK, but not brilliant.

The content itself is good and as expected. Look forward to sharing it with my class.
It’s just a shame that the delivery driver was too impatient to wait 5 seconds and put the parcel through, consequently creasing and denting the book!

The story is well written, and reflects the life of a primary school aged child in every way. Even down to the part with Dad on his phone and not listening to her, that was a great little extra!
I just know my daughter will get a lot out of this book, And hopefully learn techniques to build a strong mind, just like the girl in the story.
I only wish the pages were thicker/stronger, if my 3 year old gets hold of the book, the pages will certainly rip.

Very well written and a useful guide for children about handling certain situations. Clear text and child friendly pictures. My only complaint is that a book of this type is usually £6.99 full price rather than £9.95.

I love this book so much! My 9 year old has been having a hard time at school and having a real confidence crisis on the back of it. Everytime she says “I can’t..” she stops herself now and tells me she’s telling her mind she can! We read it together and she takes it off and reads it herself when she needs to. I’d recommend it to all young children!

I bought this for my year 7 but it is a little childish (tho she is quite innocent), I would say upto year 5 is probably most suitable.

My son is very tentative when it comes to new situations or tackling things that he is scared of. I bought this book as another tool to use as we have been working on resilience and how to approach situations such as this. This book seems to have resonated with him, I didn’t think the cover looked particularly appealing for a just turned 6 year old however in a pile of new Christmas books he chose this one.
What surprised me the most, was a trip to the park recently when he came across a large piece of climbing apparatus and he said he couldn’t do it. We reminded him of the words in the book, and he said he would have a go even though he was scared. Half way up I could hear him repeating some of the words from the book, reminding himself that he could do it.
This is simply a book, it is not going to fix any problems you might have but it is another tool at your disposal and seemed to resonate with my son.
Book is a little flimsy but shouldn’t impact too much of you take care of books as we encourage our children to do.
