Cruise ship history with a mystery to boot. Set in 1936 but also references the Titanic tragedy (kids of today are still fascinated with the Titanic and may not know as much about the Queen Mary) and tbh any story that mentions lemon sherbets has an extra tick!

Bloomin’ brilliant! I have loved every book by this talented author and now we have a mystery series! Action packed, fast paced and impossible to put down. Loved it.

This is such a brilliant book. It is above my daughter’s reading age, but I read it to her, as a bedtime adventure. She loved the action packed excitement that the two main characters got up to. She loved both the main characters, but Sonny was her favourite.
The adventure was written very well. It flows nicely and is an easy read, the young readers will understand and be able to thoroughly enjoy. It has a lot of twists and fun in the plot and allows for the reader to jump through the moments, really experiencing the adventure.
It’s a unique and great tale that is great for those who recently started reading alone or for parents to share with them. It is a book that readers will share with their friends and want to return to many times.

This is a thrilling adventure across the Atlantic, with more than one mystery on board and the nail biting race for the fastest crossing.
Alice is a great main character and I loved her mischievous nature. Of course she wasn’t going to sit around her room doing nothing for the whole trip! The wonderful descriptions of the ship make you feel like you’re actually there, exploring with Alice and her new friends. Halfway through the story, a whole new mystery appears, which was actually something I was hoping for. At the end, the reveals just keep coming, it was not predictable at all and there were lots of things I never could have guessed.

I found this book completely by accident on a bookshop website. The cover and title drew me in as I initially thought it was about the Titanic. Once I learned it was about the Queen Mary I was further drawn in as I have travelled on the QM2.
Although this is primarily a children’s book aimed at ages 9+, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it as a 37 year old child!
I read the first few chapters free on Amazon and was completely hooked. The story is very well written, the characters well developed and relatable and I loved the descriptions of the ship, I could really put myself on board and felt part of it.
I highly recommend this book to children and adults alike.
I will be looking out for the sequel!

I cannot express how much I loved this brilliant children’s read. Such a joy. Wonderfully well written with excellent vocabulary, fantastic characters and a great setting. I was hooked on the story and even found myself propping my kindle up during dinner so I could find out what was happening!
I’ll 100% be recommending this to children at school and also to staff as a class reader.

This is a fantastic story set on board a glorious golden-age ocean liner. The setting is glorious; the characters are bold and feisty and the plot is a real page-turner. Highly recommended for KS2 (fans of Adventures on Trains will really love this).

I absolutely loved this one. I’m a big fan of a middle grade mystery and this one, set at sea, gripped me. I loved getting to know Alice and Sonny and seeing their friendship grow as they sneak around the ship trying to solve the mystery. I loved the developments in their story at the reveal at the end. I look forward to seeing what’s next for these characters.
This would be perfect for fans of the adventures on trains series.
