Night Owl: A Trasker Thriller
£2.80
A shocking act of sabotage draws a retired spy into a deadly conspiracy in an explosive thriller by an Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author.
After three decades in counterintelligence, Brad Trasker is retired, disillusioned, and dealing with a tragic loss. Spy games are behind him until he attends the launch of a next-generation aircraft. When the project of innovative aerospace CEO Kylie Connor explodes on the tarmac—nearly killing her in the process—Trasker is pulled back into the line of fire.
The mystery of the sabotage quickly deepens. All Kylie’s data has been wiped from the server. One of her engineers has disappeared. A seed investor has died in a suspicious car accident. And a cold-blooded murder raises the stakes even higher.
To discover who’s pulling the strings behind a dangerous conspiracy, Trasker needs to find a motive. Corporate espionage, revenge, or something he can’t yet see? Targeted by assassins, he finds himself overmatched when he realizes he can’t trust anyone—including Kylie. Too long out of a game he no longer understands, Trasker must adapt or die.

A slightly difficult one to review. Whilst I enjoyed the book, it didn’t totally grab me. Why? I’m not 100% sure. It seemed to skip from one part of the story to another and sometimes Trasket’s ramblings about the past or his memory palace, left me a little bored. However, it was a reasonable read. 4.25 out of 5.

First time I have read anything by this author. Good steady read.

Got this a a Prime first read and for once it was a good one! Usually of late I have not been able to finish them. An interesting ‘hero ‘written in the first person with a fairly heavy science base to the plot. Some good action sections which don’t get too ridiculous. It’s a slightly weak ending, hence the loss of a star. I’m tempted to read more by this author.

This was an Amazon Prime first read and my first story by Andrew Mayne. The plot is reasonable the pace is swift and the action sequences believable. I enjoyed this tale so much I’ve bought a further two stories by this author.

Seem a bit strange a the beginning?
Don’t worry everything resolves itself as you progress through the story.
I definitely struggled to put this down and once I got 85%, I just had to finish it.
My 2nd favourite author of 2023.
100% recommended. Just put Trasker 2 on my wish list.

A real good thriller with spycraft included, action a plenty, and a flawed hero, hopefully more to come from this character.

A good straightforward thriller. I enjoyed it, it wasn’t complicated but there was sufficient ’octane’ to keep the pages turning to an unabashedly “there’s more to come” ending – a good beach book.
