Celebrating her 45th birthday at her local pub, podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie is also celebrating her 45th.

A few days later, they bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie says she thinks she would be an interesting subject for Alix’s podcast. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Alix agrees to a trial interview and indeed, Josie’s life appears to be strange and complicated. Aix finds her unsettling but can’t quite resist the temptation to keep digging.

Slowly Alix starts to realise that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it Josie has cajoled her way into Alix’s life – and into her home.

Soon Alix begins to wonder who is Josie Fair really? And what has she done?

This is by far one of the best books I have read for a long time, I could not put it down and read it over two days, what a storyline, truly gripping, captivating and a must read, absolutely loved it. Lisa Jewell’s books are always good but this is the best one yet.

It has been a very long time since I read a book that was gripping from the very first page.
It really is a top physiological thriller

Another 5 star Lisa Jewell. I normally read a Lisa Jewell book as soon as it hits the shelves but this time I managed to hold on to my holidays and it was so worth the wait.

As I started to read and realise there wouldn’t be any chapters I was unsure if I was going to like this one. By page 30 I was hooked and as I hadn’t read any other reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Josie has just inherited some money so she and her husband decide to go to an expensive pub to celebrate her 45th Birthday. Alix is also celebrating her 45th birthday in the same pub with her best friends. Josie follows Alix to the toilets and discovers that not only do they share the same birthday but they were born in the same year and the same hospital.

Josie does a little online stalking and discovers Alix is a successful podcaster and so proposes that Alix does a podcast about her life and how she is hoping to change things going forward. Alix ignore all her misgivings and agrees! The story follows the recording of the podcast and what happens to Josie and Alix next.

This is such a gripping read and the missing chapters were soon forgotten as the story developed.

Lisa Jewell always manages to capture you into the story with the way she allows the characters to grow within the book, never knowing what is true and what isn’t!

I’m not a massive fan of sequels normally but after The Family Remains I feel another book to follow this in a few years would very much be welcomed!

After reading almost every Lisa Jeqwll book over 25 years, I should know better to quearuon can this novel be good, when the answer is a certain yes
This book is a fast paced, thrilling page turner.
Two women meet at a restaurant where they discover they were born on the same day, but both discover that their lives are different. Within a short time people are discovered dead and both women are mixed up and embroiled in the story and the mysterious circumstances of the seemingly tragic events
An intriguing and different novel from Lisa Jewell which is a 5 star read

For me, this was an absorbing, fast paced read and I really loved it.
I can see it wouldn’t appeal to everyone and the story line could seem unrealistic but this situation could happen in real life, just read the newspapers.
    Highly recommended.

I’m a big fan of Lisa Jewell, but this book was even better than I was expecting.
It’s one of those stories that just when you think you know what has happened, everything changes.
