An interesting and enjoyable book. Set in Victorian times, it was an emotional rollercoaster that went from joy to despair in a few pages. The characters were a complicated mix of evil, love and hatred, but also charity.

I can truly say this is my most favorite book that I have read in 2021. The story included everything you want in a book. Mae is such a beautiful child inside and out and the hardships she endured were tremendous but no hate or revenge did she think of just the love she had for others. It is heartbreaking and I am crying just writing this review, this book I will read again
