Not suitable if adopting from own country as this details the journey of parents boarding a plane and staying in hotel.

Nice visual book about intercountry adoption. Presents a fairly typical, simplified story of a couple’s journey through intercountry adoption in a very appealing way. It perhaps is too focussed on the parent’s story rather than the child’s. The language has a very American feel which is a disadvantage for those of us outside the USA.

I bought this book, among others, for my daughter who is expecting her little girl from China shortly. We loved it! It is one of her favourites along with ‘I love you like Crazy Cakes’. I think it shows a young adopted child how much she/he was wanted and how much she/he is loved.

The pictures are colourful and eye catching which eventually caught the attention of my 3 year old then he asked me to read it. It is a lovely story and is a nice way to broach the subject with my son in more detail and feel it was a good purchase.

I bought this book several years ago and both my daughters love the book. It is beautifully illustrated and even very young children (say from 2 upwards) can enjoy it. The story broadly follows our own story of adopting from China but even where it differs it has been a great way to start talking about adoption. Both my girls think of this book as their adoption book. Invaluable.
