Paganism: Pagan holidays, beliefs, gods and goddesses, symbols, rituals, practices, and much more! An Introductory Guide
£7.80
What is paganism? Is it an heretical faith that stands in opposition to Christianity? It is devil worship? The answer is no times three. “Paganism” does not refer to a single religion, but to a collection of earth-centric polytheistic philosophies that harken back to belief structures that pre-date Christianity. Pagans of all types believe that there are many paths to reach a harmonious relationship with deity. No single one is more valid than another. Since pagans do not see the world as locked in a cosmic struggle between good and evil, they do not recognize the Christian concept of Satan nor do they worship him. The notion of “pagan” as “heretic” is only valid when seen through the lens of Christianity. In her latest book, author Riley Starr offers a gentle introduction to the world of earth religions aimed at the beginner. Using Wicca, Druidry, and Odinism as exemplars, Starr explains what it means to function both as a pagan within a group and as a sole practitioner. With suggestions for starting a ritualistic life and for adopting the use of protective symbols, Starr opens the door for new followers of paganism to take the first steps in their own journey and encourages them to embrace a lifelong study of the deities and symbols that speak exclusively to them. Pagan holidays, beliefs, gods and goddesses, symbols, rituals, practices, and much more!

Loved the book, but can’t find any information or reference to one of the celtic goddesses mentioned in the book, and typically its one I was interested in researching. Google just has no clue who she is. Apart from that the book was very interesting.

Great read for anyone who wants the information no nonsense. Theres alot of information online nowadays and this book is great for making sense of it all. I would have liked more information about deity and the types of deity to pray to as that was what i was searching for regardless i am glad i stumbled onto this. I will be referring back to this book many times to assist my practice.

I highly recommend this book to anyone considering the Pagan path. The dispelling of Pagan myths was a real eye-opener, so too was Star’s Glossary of Terms. Star’s enthusiasm for the subject was infectious and I particularly liked her gentleness and openness about choosing a Pagan path that is right for the individual. A great read and I feel inspired to learn more about living a Pagan pathway.

A straightforward simple introduction, covering all aspects of paganism, the history to the current day in a clear and concise manner.

If you are new to Paganism, as I am, this book is a good place to start. It is not a taxing read written by an academic, but an accessible introduction penned by an ordinary practitioner. Riley Star describes, or rather narrows down, what Paganism is and what it is not. So as to keep her book simple, she concentrates on just three ‘paths’: Wicca, Druidry and Odinism. She makes it quite clear that Paganism is not as straight-jacketed as many other non-pagan faiths and that the interpretation of it is largely up to the individual – and so something for almost everybody. She does not proselytise or denigrate the major religions; she just opens the eyes of those seeking an alternative.
If you connect more with Nature and Spirituality than with Materialism and Selfism, and are ignorant of Paganism, then I suggest you pick up this book.
