    I bought this on Kindle after following Sarah’s blog which is very informed. The kindle version is great for me to have with me wherever I go as this book is very useful for reference when I am away from home or at work. Due to my condition my memory is not as good as it could be so to have this on my iPhone where I can refer to it is great. However the book is so wonderful and such lovely illustrations and has become my bible that I decide I wanted the hard copy in my hands! It is scientific in parts but not complicated and I read a comment from another that it is too scientific but I did not find this in the slightest. It is well set out, excellent explanations and the details for autoimmune disease protocol have been absolutely essential to me after struggling with Lyme disease for many years. I had been following a Paleo gluten free diet but still didn’t quite understand why my gut issues were not healing. Well if you want the nitty gritty of it all then get this book its essential reading for anyone who wants to stay healthy when suffering autoimmune or Chronic long term disease. I think this book will be my bible for reference for a long time and I cannot wait for the cookbook which is already on order! If its anything like this lovely book my family will be in for some great treats and and I will be happy that they are eating healthily. I read a lot of stuff in my research but this is definitely at the top of my list for being well set out, informative, practical and for giving me the best leap forward with my health that I have had in a long time. Well done Sarah this is a wonderful book, so good in fact like I said, I bought it twice!!!

    As others have commented this is a huge book with extensive amounts of information. I was initially put off by both these issues and nearly sent it back, however…. if you are taking charge of your health you sometimes need the detail, to help you make the decision that it is worth the effort. One of the great things about going the whole hog and cutting out everything, is that when you eat something, that you previously ate regularly, I have found the negative effects are obvious, if you do have a problem with it. I would recommend that this book be read after you already have some idea about the dietary changes involved, which can easily be found on Dr Ballantyne’s website and others. This is basically because as a beginner to all this, with a bit of brain fog thrown in, it might just put you off completely, which would be a shame.

    Forewarned is forearmed though, so if you are serious about AIP, this book tells you pretty much all there is to know about the subject.

    My daughter and I have been following the full AIP protocol for 2 months and the most obvious result has been that my toe nails , which for many years have rarely needed trimming, have started growing again. We are supplementing loads of things too. I would also add, that Kinesiology can be used to help you decide which foods are most likely causing you a problem.

    Achy joints, muscles or tendons? Stiffness? Arthritis? Fibromyalgia? Chronic fatigue? Blood pressure? Obesity?

    The list goes on and on.

    A malfunctioning immune system could be what you need to fix.

    I’ve just got my life back at 68! And do you know what was the main cause of all my problems? Eggs!

    Who would have believed that? I thought it might be chicken.

    I’ve lived on eggs all my life. Love ’em. Scrambled, boiled and in omelettes. If in doubt, go to work on an egg!

    Thanks to Sarah’s groundbreaking work I’m on the mend after many years of pain.

    I’d done the rest. Taken out wheat(not the gluten for me but the proteins in the new strains – no longer the same as when I was a kid), nightshades – potatoes, tomatoes and peppers, hadn’t drunk milk for thirty odd years. It caused my nose to run.(BCM7 protein in A1 milk is responsible).

    And although my symptoms had improved I was still having to takes Naproxen regularly and Co codamol at night quite often to lessen pain.

    Took out eggs from my diet and within a week my general fatigue had dissipated and pain and stiffness almost gone. It was like a miracle!

    Two weeks on from that I feel thirty years younger. Fan-bloody-tastic.

    Also, I’ve leant to balance the Omega 3 to 6 in my intake. So eating fresh Tuna and Salmon every week. Avoiding too many omega 6 sources.

    I think chicken has a lot to answer for on many levels. And, as when I was a child, should be a treat, perhaps once a month, no more.

    Excellent book, everything you need to know about AIP, the affects of autoimmune disease on your gut and how doing the protocol will change your life for the better. It is very indepth and can be a little science heavy, but it is good to understand the in would workings of the body but it can be skipped.

    I have a number of autoimmune conditions such as Raynauds, undifferentiated connected tissues disorder, DLE plus fibromyalgia and since following the protocol my symptoms have reduced considerable and I now have energy and less pain. I have only been doing it for 5 weeks and its been amazing and I’ve even lost a stone in weight which is even more of a bonus.

    The only downside is that the book is very heavy, but thats because it has so much information and colourful pictures.

    I would definitely recommend this book if you want to experience better health if you suffer from one of the hundreds of autoimmune conditions that Sarah lists. It is worth every penny.
