This is one of my favourite books, suitable for children from 9 to 90
by B. Hudson
This is the 1911 edition originally published as “Peter and Wendy”.
Much of the book is close to unreadable mostly because the sentences are just too gnarled and knotted for adults let alone children.
A flavour of the sheer horror of the book and its unsuitability for children can be gauged from the following quotes:
“For instance, they may remember to mention, a week after the event happened, that when they were in the wood they had met their dead father and had a game with him.”
“There’s a pirate asleep in the pampas beneath us, if you like we’ll go down and kill him.”
“The boys on the island vary, of course , in number. Peter thins them out.”
“He (Tootles a pirate boy) has been in fewer adventures than any of them because the big things constantly happen while he has stepped round the corner; he will go off, for instance, in some quiet hour to gather firewood, and then when he returns the others will be sweeping up the blood.”
The author Peter Llewellyn Davies called “Peter Pan”—“that terrible masterpiece”.
It is not the stuff of classic children’s fiction, it is the stuff of nightmares.

Poor quality book, very poor quailty print of pictures. Many errors within the book. I have a proper copy of Peter Pan and this was meant to be a copy for my daughter but I can’t give it to her due to the errors in print.
