As a photography lecturer, I found this book accessible, unpretentious and right up to date. I can’t believe he gets so much information in so small a book and raises a smile as often as he does. I recommend this book to all my students as an excellent intro to the history and contexts of photography. I wish Dave Yorath would use this small book as a template for a more extended study.
