Poco Piano for Young Children Book One: 1 (Poco Studio Edition)

£6.60

Book 1 introduces the child to the keyboard, staves, clefs, simple time signatures, note values and rests. Reading encompasses notes from a 5th above to a 5th below Middle C. The notes A and E are introduced first, played by a braced 3rd finger of each hand. This develops a natural, balanced hand position. The 1st line of the treble stave and the 5th line of the bass stave are highlighted, and furhter lines are similarly treated as the child learns more notes. Staccato, slurs, ties, upbeats and repeat signs are all experienced in Book 1. Tempo and dynamic markings encourage musical playing, and are in english. – See more at: http://alfreduk.fabermusic.com/Poco-Piano-for-Young-Children-Book-1-983430482X.aspx#sthash.5aK9EvcH.dpuf

Bought this on the recommendation of my 6 year old son’s piano teacher. He loves the stickers and the book is giving him a really good introduction to reading music and to the piano and also telling him a bit about famous composers. Definitely a good choice for young children who are keen to learn to play the piano.

This is the first time I have taught piano using this book and my young pupils seem to enjoy it. However I can’t understand why it doesn’t link better to the Poco theory book, which I bought to go with it. The theory book presents the information in a completely different order!

A great piano book for beginners to learn everything from scratch. I have been using this with my four year old. She loves the stickers, and the activities in the book as well as the songs. She has been able to learn to play the piano very quickly using this book and I am finding it enjoyable to teach her using it. Well worth the money, and I am considering getting the theory book too.

Purchased this book to help teach my younger students, aged 5, and it is the best beginner’s book I have come across. It contains interesting pieces and the stickers and pictures help to keep the child’s interest. I am now using this with my 8 year old students as I think it works well for them too. Would definitely recommend!

A decent beginners book but not as good as the second book in the series. It’s a little too overloaded with colour and info for my eyes. The sticker system is good.

I’ve recently discovered these having used the theory sticker scheme for many years. I love the fact it puts hands together early on and is a 4 step approach to grade 1. Aimed at 5/6 year olds.

Bought this for my niece who is having group piano lessons and wanted a little more to learn than happy birthday. She would need an adult to help her through, but she is very excited to have a go with the activities with me.

I have used these books with a couple of my younger pupils aged 5 and they really excel with them.
They learn to play with both hands straight away, and learning is kept fun with the use of stickers. I use the Lesson and Theory book together.
