When in a rush, and you have some basics (Mean, Median, Mode & Range) this is the book to go for. No fuss/frills calmly talks you through what needs to be done. It even gives you test others have neglected to mention such as Kendall tau and the reasons these are more appropriate in some cases (tied ranks of data/smaller sample) in comparison to say Spearman rho-
The author lays out how to write the equations/results in the correct scientific method according to APA. Whilst all the time explaining what you are doing. if you have this book you don’t need to buy any other.
That said it’s not basic enough to tell you what test to use for which investigation you have to have a rough idea…and doesn’t have nice colourful charts. There is no visual Flow charts – to help guide you on the correct investigation and tests to conduct.
But it’s a solid book and one worth investing in- buy it!

If, like me, you’re being taught statistics by very knowledgeable statisticians (i,e they’re not tutors by trade) then this book is invaluable.
It actually explains to you what the terminology means, what the equation means and uses the equations with sensible data to explain the process.
I still got a little stuck but that’s because I’m dipping in and out of it, I would recommend reading it right from the beginning so as to build on your knowledge gradually!

The book is great for understanding the statistics language, but limited to Freshers! It ends with ANOVA design so not very helpful as a level 5, but it does communicate the basics of statistics wel.
