I don’t usually like ‘how to’ advice on how to spend time alone with God – it’s personal for each of us! But this well written booklet is an easy read, very relevant in prompting and encouraging the reader to take seriously that short (or longer) time that we really need to spend alone with God if we call ourselves followers of Jesus. Time out from the daily demands is a precious commodity which, when available, can present the problem of ‘how long should I spend?’ for one thing, as we tend to forget that although we’re right to know God’s always there, we forget too easily that he relates personally to us and that does take time alone. It suggests what to include during that ‘quiet’ time, alone, with practical helpful suggestions, in an encouraging way. I’d recommend this one – in fact I even bought several copies to give to friends who might need refreshing in this area. It would be a good adjunct for any group.
