Imagine you could hold a baby hare and bottle-feed it. Imagine that it lived under your roof and lolloped around your bedroom at night, drumming on the duvet cover when it wanted your attention. Imagine that, over two years later, it still ran in from the fields when you called it and snoozed in your house for hours on end. This happened to me.
When Chloe, a city-dwelling professional with a high-pressure job, finds a newly born hare, endangered, alone and no bigger than her palm, she is compelled to give it a chance at survival – despite being the least likely caregiver to this wild animal.
Raising Hare is the story of their journey together. It chronicles an extraordinary relationship between human and animal, rekindling our sense of awe towards nature and wildlife. Their improbable bond of trust reminds us that the most remarkable experiences, inspiring the most hope, often arise when we least expect them.

This is special. A true story not only about the rescue and rearing of a wild creature and the clever way its inherent wild nature is protected but also how someone grew and developed from the experience. There’s also so much information built into the book about the hare but it’s so cleverly done you never feel like it detracts from the story or the message. The hares gift to the writer is a new found appreciation of nature and life.

This book is the most beautiful book I have read in a long time. To know that it is true is remarkable and the trust between the author and the hare is astonishing. Just wonderful.

I loved the story of this woman’s respectful relationship with the hare, how she didn,t seek to turn it into a ‘pet’ or constrain it’s natural inclinations, but just allowed it to engage with her on its own terms. I loved how it gradually changed her attitude towards nature and her place in.
The writing is lovely, and I felt the beauty of the countryside where she lived, and her observations of the creatures in it. This book will stay with me forever, especially the last lines.

Sometimes in life, if we are fortunate, we may enjoy the beauty of such an experience in nature.
So descriptive and very well written.
It warmed my heart.

Simply beautiful and profound. I loved how the dance of relationships evolved between human and the hare and human and nature.

I was plunged into the world of animals and enjoyed the descriptions of the life of hares which I had previously ignored

Very detailed, descriptive experience for the care of a wild animal, a Hare. How to care for a wild animal respecting its boundaries. How it can burrow into your life and emotions, leaving an indelible mark on a person. A philosophy of human behaviour on mother nature is given and reflections of how we can be more accommodating of our environment. Highly recommend.

Everything is beautiful about this book:the writing, the story, the mother hare, the message. With the world in such chaos, it was soothing and refreshing to read about a world that is well ordered and well intentioned!

A truly wonderful account of the author finding a day old leveret and raising it. Her thoughtful and caring approach is beautiful as she tries to bring up the hare whilst trying to keep its wild nature. Living remotely as she does during lockdown certainly helped and gave her a greater understanding of the nature around her. Felt I could only give 4🌟as there was a few assumptions about farmers and farming practices that weren’t true or rather skewed. A delightful tale.

This is a wonderfully told story. Beautiful descriptions and well-written and observed.
