On a mission to retrace the adventures in Egypt of the great explorer Giovanni Belzoni, the next stop is Abu Simbel. But Merry and friends have more reasons for wanting to make the trip down Lake Nasser than just to see the Great Temple of Ramses that Belzoni famously dug from the sand.First, there’s the golden statuette of Helen of Troy apparently found there. And second, the promise – on very good authority – of a stash of treasure.Intrigued and mystified – for both are surely impossible – Merry sets sail to find out more.Join Merry on another thrilling adventure as she seeks to uncover more of Egypt’s secrets.

Perfect holiday reading, couldn’t put it down until the end.

Too many suppositions about too many issues, especially Great Train Robbers’ – was this storyline necessary? Not enough focus on Egypt.

The talent and creativity of some authors never ceases to amaze me. Fiona is no exception.
I’ve been reading Fiona’s work for some time now and I love all her books. What I find particularly brilliant is how she writes so you can pick up just one book and enjoy it without needing to read the rest of the series. This is number nine of Merry’s adventures but you can read it alone and thoroughly enjoy it without feeling you’ve missed something. You may find you’ll want to read all the previous books in the series though and it’s no hardship – it’s an absolute joy! You won’t be able to put them down!!!
The whole series is fantastic. I’ve read them all as I find them so gripping and entertaining. Fiona’s imagination and the research she puts in astounds me. Please do read the author’s notes at the back too – very interesting to read how she arrived at the premise in the book.
This is another adventure for Merry. Fiona has our heroine in Egypt on the Nile following Belzone’s path. Once more she gives us a history lesson as well as some drama and excitement.
If this has caught your eye and as a result you’re reading this, do yourself a favour and buy this book, and then go and buy all the previous books in the series too. You won’t be disappointed.

Good read

A fairly good read but not up to her usual exciting plots. I didn’t like the great train robbery plot it took away the atmosphere of ancient riddles she is so good at writing.

Again Fiona you didn’t disappoint. I so enjoyed reading number 9 in this series that I couldn’t put it down until finished. Reading about Egypt, a country I would love to visit, full of history & adventure, your plots seem so realistic one could actually believe them! I look forward to Merry & Adams next adventure.
