Reflection

I was given the beautiful gift of love. But I did not protect it. I saw something shiny – a world more exciting than the one I had and I became greedy. Now I spend my days and nights thinking about the life I once lived, reflecting on a love so effulgent and true. I can’t go back, and I can’t move on. I try to focus on the present with the occasional thought of the future, but my mind will not obey and it keeps taking me back to Elizabeth. She did right by me and she can move on with her head held high. I was once told that true love never dies, now fate is about to put it to the test.
