This was a new to me author so when I started Reign of Royal, I had no idea this was the first book in a new series featuring the next generation and before I got more than a couple of chapters in, I’d added a whole lot of books to my tbr as I fell in love with the Murdoch family, murderers and borderline psychopaths they might be but family is everything and the women in that family rule the roost, the only ones who can instil genuine fear into their respective menfolk.
Reign of Royal featured Royal, only child of Bishop and Klara and he’s more than ready to step out from his father’s shadow and form his own family with his three cousins, the Memento Mori. He never expected his chance would come with the abduction of his father and uncles and would set him on a spree to claim his own territory in Miami. Along the way he encounters the mysterious and silent Erika, a woman with her own agenda and vengeance in her heart. I loved everything about this book. The sizzling chemistry between Royal and Erika, the fabulous family dynamics especially between Royal and his parents which had me laughing when Klara turned on her husband for being mean to her baby boy, while said baby laughed at getting his father in trouble. With wicked dialogue and dark humour, fantastic characters and a gripping plot where the action didn’t let up for a second, I’m happy to say I’ve found a new author to obsess over.

Ooohh this book was everything I wanted and more. Firstly, Royal and his dad were brilliant. I loved their relationship and how they were with each other and because of that, it’s why Royal stands up and does what he needs to do. Unbeknown to him he ends up finding the love of his life. He and Erika have this beautiful love hate relationship to start with but the love soon becomes unbreakable. Stories soon become lies and the truth is all revealed with heartbreaking outcomes for Erika but she gets her revenge in the end. What I did love about this book was the bond between Royal and Chanel, that was something else but I think given her secret and what we find out at the end might very well be tested in the next book.
You have to read this, it will seriously not disappoint you, your be hooked and begging for the next book. Well done Samantha Barrett, another fab one.

Aside from the novella Stalemate, Reign of Royal is the first full-length book in the new era of the Murdoch Mafia. It’s a rollercoaster of a story full of cunning, danger, deception, and desire. The book is a great introduction to the Memento Mori and their new ways of ruling, even though it features the elder generation of the family, who have their own series.
Reign of Royal had plenty of twists and turns, keeping me on edge as the story developed, and I wondered where the story would take me as a reader. After an enemy kidnaps Royal’s father and uncles, it is up to Royal to take control and rescue them. It’s not long before other dangers and conflicts are added to the mix, such as the introduction of Erika, a mute girl engaged to Royal’s new enemy who believes Royal’s family is responsible for the murder of her parents, and the way her uncle Emilio is working behind the scenes, trying to take over too.
It’s packed full of danger, and not everything is as it seems, but I loved the clever ways that Royal ruled his new kingdom. It was also great to see his relationship with Erika develop, although when it’s seen that she is a traitor and she gets hurt, it is a hard read, and this book certainly touches on some darkness, but it more than made up for it with the passion of the characters, the tender moments between not just Royal and Erika but between other sideline characters too, and not to forget the humour of Royal playing his mom and dad against each other, which soon comes back to bite him in the ass.
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book. The development of the younger characters as they grow through the pages and become their own entities was brilliantly written, and I found myself endeared to several of the characters; even Chanel/Sin had me softening towards her, especially with the cliffhanger, which has left me eager for the next book in this series.

Holy Smokes !!!
I absolutely adore the entire Murdoch Mafia series and didn’t think they could be beaten but Sanantha has absolutely smashed it with this book , Royal Murdoch is a fabulous character to read his confidence oozes off the pages, the chemistry between him and Erika is electric and this story had me hanging onto the edge of my seat, so many twists and turns Sam definitely keeps you guessing !!
I love the new generation of Murdochs the Memento Mori are just getting started and I cant wait for the next one .

I hadn’t read the previous Murdoch mafia books but came onto this after reading Stalemate, a novella that links the two generations and helps workout who is who. This is a great mafia novel, Royal the fmc is a total alphahole, who is cruel, possessive and hot af. Though it was the twins who I particularly ‘liked’. There are lots of twists and turns and the chemistry between Royal and Erika positively sizzles off the page.
If you loved the original generation, there’s still plenty of them in these books, but the new generation, the ‘Memento Mori’ are not overshadowed. This has plenty of pace, action and is pretty dark. If this is your vibe then you’ll love it.
