This is a very good and no nonsense book. It is not for the faint-hearted because it tackles the issue of greedy, ruthless and unjust capitalism that gripped the world and turned it head on heels; particularly the subject of borrowing or lending on interest and the unscrupulous financial institutions that take advantage of people in general. So if you are a person out there with no morals, shame, heart or feelings, and under the influence of money gained through any means; lawful or unlawful, legal or illegal, then this book is definitely for you. It will open your eyes on many things and hopefully may bring you back to your senses.

Well written historical research. A pleasure to read. Unfortunately there are overlaps between the chapters, which means re-reading the same tex in some instancest. But the scholarship is first rate.

I have loved this book since I found it in a charity shops about 20 years ago, I lost it a while back and was trying to describe something to my son and decided to get a new copy. I’m not an expert and althought the writing is a bit old fashioned its very passionate for what is basically a book about economics. It is very good at giving historical insight and context into how capitalism developed over the centuries (I blame the pope for removing usery from the sin list!) and when you think that this book is his scribed lectures which he did without notes (or teleprompt), you gotta admire his big brain.

Amazing. What man has done, he can undo or change but first you must understand why things are the way they are. This book will help.
